Updates and Seasons
How Aion 2 has been updated in Korea and Taiwan since its November 2025 launch: weekly patches and developer livestreams, seasons and chapters, a timeline of the major updates from Season 2 to the update of Oct 7, 2026, and the first season and first patch of the global version, launched on Oct 5, 2026, whose Daeva Pass runs to Dec 15.
Aion 2 has been updated continually since it launched in Korea and Taiwan on Nov 19, 2025, with a maintenance patch almost every week, larger content updates every few weeks, and a structure of seasons and, from July 2026, chapters. The Korean team also holds a livestream with players every week, a practice NC's global team says it will continue (Hardcore Gamer). English-speaking players follow the Korean and Taiwanese patches through creators such as Blazeon, who plans to cover the maintenance every week, here that of Sep 9, 2026, because the changes will eventually reach the global version. This page gives the overall timeline; the biggest updates have their own pages: Season 2, Chaotic Abyss, Muspel's Chalice, fromis_9 Collaboration, Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow and Snowfield of Sorrow. The global version, open to Founder's Pack buyers since Sep 30, 2026 and to everyone from Oct 5, starts well behind this timeline, with a first season of its own.

How Aion 2 is updated
NC's Daniel LaFuente told Hardcore Gamer in June 2026 that the Korean and Taiwanese teams do "weekly live streams every week", taking players' feedback and answering their questions, and that the global team would do the same. He described most dungeon content as running on a weekly cycle, which suits both daily players and "weekend warriors", and said player feedback asking for more casual content was the reason more lifestyle content was planned (Hardcore Gamer). The fan site Aion2 Hub keeps English translations of the Korean patch notes; its archive lists a patch almost every Wednesday since launch, with extra hotfixes and emergency maintenance in between (Aion2 Hub).
Seasons arrived with Season 2 in January 2026. As Xela summarizes NC's roadmap, Aion 2 officially runs in seasons: each one resets rankings and reshuffles Abyss matchmaking, but does not wipe content, so starting late carries no lasting penalty, and rankings became class-based.
In July 2026 NC called its first major update Chapter 1. EPIC PLK reads the word as a sign that NC was moving from smaller, season-style updates to bigger content drops, and Chapter 1 as a proper MMO update with a new class, new regions, higher level caps and more group and PvP content rather than an event and a costume shop.
Season numbering
NC's English press releases announce Season 2 and Chapter 1 by name but no season after Season 2, so numbering beyond that is not settled. NC's release of May 13, 2026 does refer to "Season 3 Arcana" (NC), and Aion2 Hub labels the patch of Apr 8, 2026 as the launch of Season 3.
Creators follow the same count. aLuckyRO filmed the rebuilt chaotic middle layer of Reshanta on what he calls the second day of the season 3 update, on Apr 10, 2026.
By July some went a step further: Madsin refers to the Chapter 1 showcases as the showcases "for season 4", and aLuckyRO's Chapter 1 video is titled as the season 4 update.
Timeline of major updates

Launch to Season 2
The launch on Nov 19, 2025 was troubled. Server congestion and a name-reservation bug forced repeated emergency maintenance, and cash-shop bundles sold enhancement items NC had said would not be sold; within a day the developers apologized on a livestream, removed the bundles, gave the items to every player, removed skill-reset costs and halved consumable prices (MassivelyOP; Korea and Taiwan Launch; Controversies). Aion2 Hub's archive shows hotfixes almost daily in the first week, then weekly patches that added Conquest Hard difficulty on Dec 17 and Hard-mode Expeditions and the Odium Storage daily dungeon on Dec 24.
Bots were a running problem. By February 2026, aselon_eu reports, NC claimed a significant reduction in bot activity, with well over 200,000 bot accounts removed since launch and a capture system to catch the rest, and its latest developer livestream put bots at under 5 per cent of the player base. These are NC's own figures, relayed by the creator.
The same review notes that NC was already planning to change its dungeon design after complaints that content lacked meaningful challenge, raising base difficulty across dungeons and adding more meaningful rewards, and that it had added pity systems early on, letting players pick a Unique-grade item after a set number of runs, along with weapon exchange vouchers.
Season 2 and the March overhaul
NC's roadmap of Jan 7, 2026 set out the second season: a new Expedition, raids and Ascension Trials on Jan 21, another Expedition, a Transcendence dungeon, Hard modes and a Sanctuary over the following weeks, Middle Reshanta in the Abyss, and a list of quality-of-life changes (NC). The Sanctuary opened on Mar 11 with cross-faction PvE parties, and on Mar 25 a class overhaul arrived with a new Stigma skill for every class, Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry, the Chaotic Abyss, Kina (Bound) and separate PvP and PvE damage calculations (NC; NC).
Spring 2026: Mirror, Muspel and SUMMER FESTA
After the update Aion2 Hub labels Season 3 on Apr 8, NC's next announced content was the Transcendence dungeon Mirror of Scarlet Desire on May 13, with three new Arcana sets, higher weekly reward limits and a new daily dungeon. The Sanctuary Chalice of Muspel followed on May 27 with the Brooch slot, the Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord weapons and a Wings Enhance System (NC; NC). On Jun 14 NC held the SUMMER FESTA showcase for 150 players in Seoul, where it revealed the fromis_9 collaboration, starting Jun 17, a single cheaper membership tier and the Chapter 1 update (NC).
Chapter 1 and the summer
Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow arrived on Jul 1, 2026 with the Brawler class, a level cap of 50, the regions Eltnen and Morheim, new dungeons, larger parties and new PvP modes (NC).
The weekly patches that followed show how quickly the game changes. EPIC PLK traces the Brawler's first month: life steal and bug fixes a week after launch, then a faster block and quicker attack animations, then a Jul 22 update that reworked Ascending Blow, made Rampage impossible to dispel, sped up Exploding Fist and changed several specializations. With so much moving in a few weeks, he warns against trusting any class tier list.
Aion2 Hub's archive records the rest of the summer: a first weekly Chapter 1 patch on Jul 8 with a broad class balance pass, the first Server Transfer window from Jul 22 and a second on Aug 26, and on Aug 12 the Expedition Consumed Deus Research Base, the Transcendence dungeon Noiran's Hidden Legacy, a game-wide healing rework and the end of the fromis_9 collaboration, whose event NC had announced would run until Aug 12 (Aion2 Hub).
NC's own Korean notes for Aug 26 give the terms of that second transfer window: from Aug 26 to Sep 1, once per account, within the same faction and for characters of level 45 or higher, at a base price of 1,000 Quna plus 200 Quna for each character and 1,000 Quna for each locked slot. The same update set a minimum cancel time for every skill, reworked core skills of the Templar and the Chanter, rematched the Abyss servers, raised the damage amplification of Abyss gear sets (from 15% to 30% at eight pieces and from 20% to 40% at twelve) and began a new Daeva Pass (월하의 오아시스), with 50 levels, a basic track at 2,000,000 Kina and a premium one at 1,000 Quna, on sale to Sep 22 (NC, Korean).
September and October 2026
September opened on Sep 2 with Spacetime Rift: Domination (시공의 균열 쟁탈전) in Verteron and Altgard: a 25-minute battle for 60 to 200 players a side, held on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20:00 and 23:00 KST, for characters of level 50 with item level 4,500 and 500,000 combat power (NC, Korean; Spacetime Rift). The fan archive records two emergency maintenances after it, for Abyss bosses and class balance.
Blazeon calls the maintenance of Sep 9, 2026 the largest content patch since Chapter 1 opened in July. It brought the new Sanctuary Snowfield of Sorrow with a server-wide leaderboard for first clears, new equipment slots, a new tier in the Draconic crafting tree and Abyss set bonuses rebuilt so that gear tier, not just the number of pieces, decides the damage bonus.
The same patch added a Commendation system, which Blazeon compares to the honor systems of competitive games. After the last boss of an Expedition, Transcendence dungeon, Trial or Sanctuary dies, players can commend one party member, choosing a reason, once per clear, and the commendations add up on each character's information window.
NC's notes for Sep 9 list Easy, Normal and Hard modes for the new Sanctuary, for item levels from 5,800 to 6,200, along with a new seal equipment slot (인장), a streamer mode and a Sanctuary hall of fame (NC, Korean; Snowfield of Sorrow). The first Hard clear came at 14:16 KST that day, about four hours after the maintenance ended (Gametoc).
The update of Sep 16 began another Daeva Pass (심연의 초대장), with 40 levels, a basic track at 1,000,000 Kina and a premium one at 500 Quna, on sale to Oct 6; it also tripled the Soul Crystals from mission quests and let Abyss monsters drop tradeable Abyss amplification stones (NC, Korean). On Sep 23 a new Trial (불의 신전), for level 50 and item level 4,800 with difficulty stages from 4 to 16 and weekly rewards, replaced the sky-island Trial (바크론의 공중섬), and events for the Chuseok harvest holiday began: an attendance event (한가위의 풍요로운 여정) running to Oct 28, a full-moon coin exchange and an Expedition and Transcendence boost until the Oct 7 maintenance, and new cosmetics on sale to Nov 4 (NC, Korean; Inven).
The last Korean update before the global launch, on Sep 30, moved the Wednesday and Saturday Artifact Siege (아티팩트 점령전) to staggered starts by group, at 21:20, 21:50 and 22:20 KST, and added a debuff (힘의 쇠락) that falls on the siege's core if it has not been destroyed within eight minutes (NC, Korean; Gameple). None of the six Korean updates from Aug 26 to Sep 30 added a class, a new season or chapter, a server merge or housing, and every one of their notes still carries the Chapter 1 heading.
The Korean update of Oct 7, still part of Chapter 1, rematched the Abyss servers for the eighth time in the chapter, which reset the hold on artifacts and Abyss corridors, and optimized the large battles of the Ereshranta layers that had stuttered. It raised the chance of higher-grade refining stones in Muspel's Chalice and Snowfield of Sorrow, gave a reward to the faction that misses the final blow on the Artifact Siege's dimensional core, raised mission quest rewards in Verteron and Altgard to the level of Eltnen and Morheim, and multiplied the Soul Crystals from Hidden Cubes tenfold, from 100 to 1,000, with back pay for keys already spent. Equipment and skill presets went from three to five and wardrobe presets from three to six, and an event to Oct 21 lets characters of level 45 and above buy 30 more Resurrection Spiritstones a week for 25,000 Kina each (NC, Korean).
The global version and its first season
The global version runs on its own calendar, on Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher. It opened to Founder's Pack buyers in Advanced Access on Sep 30, 2026 and opened to everyone on Oct 5, and it does not start where Korea is now. Asked whether it would catch up, NC answered in June that the global version "will be close to a year behind" (Hardcore Gamer; Global Release). In September NC America told Wccftech that the West launches with Season 1, Korea's original first season with changes, while Korea has had about a year of further content; MassivelyOP's reading was that the global version gets Korea's quality-of-life changes but not that year of content (Wccftech; MassivelyOP). Press previews put the launch level cap at 45, as in Korea before Chapter 1, and the Brawler is not among the eight launch classes, with no date given (Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow).
EUTOPIA, comparing the test client with the Korean one after the first day of the Launch Scale Test, summed up the difference: the global version does not start from Korea's current content, but it does bring roughly a year of quality-of-life, balance and progression improvements, lighter daily and weekly gating, no Heroic gear in its first season, and a level cap of 45.
Skills are the exception to the time lag. Society Of Gaming found that while the test's content was Season 1, its skills came from one of the newest Korean patches: the Chanter's Spinning Strike, a melee skill for nine months, had been made a ranged skill in Korea about two weeks earlier and was already ranged in the global client.
aLuckyRO reported that NC had said on a Japanese livestream that class balance on the global version is and will remain the same as in Korea and Taiwan, with balance updates applied to both, and that only the content differs. This is his account of NC's statement (Classes).
NC's shop notices set out the first season's calendar. The Season 1 Daeva Pass, called Dawn Legion for the Elyos and Ishalgen Mercenary for the Asmodians, runs from Sep 30 to the maintenance of Dec 15, 2026, with 100 levels and a premium track at 1,500 Quna, and its pass coins and pass shop end the same day. A shorter pass, Planet's Call, pays its rewards until the maintenance of Oct 27, and the first set of shop cosmetics is sold until the maintenance of Oct 28 (NC; NC; Cash Shop and Cosmetics). Launch events fill the first weeks: Twitch drops to Oct 16, community contests to Nov 9, and free server transfers within a faction from Oct 14 (NC on Steam; NC on Steam; NC on Steam).
The first weekly patch of the global version came with the maintenance that began at 23:30 PDT on Oct 6, 2026, two days after the launch. It made Founder's Pack cosmetics usable on every character through a free Founder's Pack shop (Founder's Packs); limited the morphing of Sealed Wings into Enhance Stones to 20 a week per server; raised the drop rate of Raw Leather from monsters in Chaotic Lower Reshanta, Verteron and Altgard; sold Resurrection Spiritstones at the Wind Breeze Merchants for 25,000 Kina, ten a week per server, until Dec 15; raised the visible limit of map pins to 30; and fixed an Asmodian weekly Challenge Season mission, a duplicated key setting and some chat emotes (NC on Steam). Two other changes came at the launch itself: the maintenance of Oct 4 and 5 shortened character deletion to 24 hours from level 1 and strengthened bosses that were too weak for a five-player party, and NC took the Sanctuary raid Ludra out to rework it, with its return date promised by Oct 16 (Advanced Access, Sanctuary Raids).
The second weekly patch came with the maintenance of Oct 13, 2026 (PDT; Oct 14 in Europe), the one that opened server transfers (Servers). It brought the global version's first seasonal event, a Halloween event running to the maintenance of Nov 3 (PDT): a 14-day Trick or Treat attendance reward and weekly event missions in the Abyss, Transcendence and Expedition dungeons, the Ascension Trial, Nightmare, Dimensional Invasion and the Shugo Festival pay Halloween Pumpkin Coins, which Coin Merchants in Verteron and Altgard exchange for Odyle Energy, Abyss Rift Stones, skin chests, resurrection stones, dungeon tickets and a Special Halloween Chest with a skeleton breastplate skin; Candy Keys crafted from fragments won in Expedition and Transcendence dungeons open candies placed in the towns. A second event, Conquerors of the Abyss, sells Abyss Rift Stones for 50,000 Kina, seven a week per character of level 45 or higher, until the maintenance of Oct 27. The patch also fixed Spiritmaster spirits summoned at level 15 or below that did not use their skills and three Sorcerer skills that lost bonus damage or cooldown effects when fighting across a difference in height (Sorcerer, Spiritmaster); added Abyss Entry Stones to two weekly Abyss season missions and raised the most Abyss entry time that can be stored to 7 hours; adjusted the standard stats of the Battlefield so fights last a suitable time; reduced stuttering in large Abyss battles; and added an inverted Y-axis option, a setting to hide HP bars, and a limit on listing gathering materials on the Market based on a character's play history (Market and Exchange). New Halloween cosmetics went on sale the same day (Cash Shop and Cosmetics). NC's notice says nothing of Ludra (NC on Steam).
The third weekly patch came with the maintenance of Oct 20, 2026 (PDT; Oct 21 in Europe), which NC first set at 4.5 hours and then lengthened to 5.5. It brought the global version's first Hard mode Expeditions, for Krao Cave and Draupnir: entry needs item level 2,600, the boss's Frenzy timer is 4 minutes, each player has 3 revives, and the rewards add Philosopher's Stone: Revelation (Bound) as a chance or a guaranteed pick, more Kina than Normal, every Unique crafting material, a chance at an Expedition Hero Artwork, achievements that unlock Unique skins, and Ariel Fragments (Expeditions, Draupnir Guide). The fragments feed a new Ariel Daevanion Board: Substance Morph turns 100 of them into a Daevanion Crystal: Ariel (Bound), up to 30 times per character, or 1 into 5 Enhance Stones without limit (Daevanion Boards). A Rise to the Challenge event sells Resurrection Spiritstones (Season 1) for Kina at the Wind Breeze Merchants until the maintenance of Dec 15 (PST): 30 for 25,000 Kina, then 30 more for 50,000, per server each week; they are used before permanent stones and removed on Dec 16. The patch also raised the number of players allowed into the Abyss, the HP of the Lower Abyss's Dimensional Core and of every Abyss boss, and the hitboxes of the bosses Kaira and Argo (The Abyss); eased the Market limit on listing gathered materials so that some restricted players can trade again (Market and Exchange); fixed the Sorcerer's Cold Storm and Fire Wall, which dealt too little or too much extra damage, and the Chanter's Spinning Strike effects (Sorcerer); and moved Empyrean Traces that Halloween decorations had blocked in Verteron. Again the notes say nothing of Ludra (NC on Steam).
The first content update has a date. On Oct 23, 2026 NC announced that the reworked Ludra raid returns on Nov 4 with new mechanics, in Normal mode at item level 2,800 and Hard mode at 3,000, with the Ludra Hunt titles for the first Hard mode clears in each region to Nov 24, Odyle Energy by mail every day from the maintenance of Oct 28 (four per account, raised from two on Oct 27) to that of Nov 10 (PST), a 14-day login track, Twitch Drops and a global Daeva Bootcamp of dungeon clear milestones from Nov 4 to Nov 17 (NC; Ludra Raid Guide). A separate maintenance of the European game servers, 2 hours 30 minutes from 17:30 PDT on Oct 24 (02:30 CEST on Oct 25), moved them from summer time to Central European Time (NC on Steam); the North American servers follow on the night of Oct 31 to Nov 1, each 2 hours 30 minutes: NA East from 22:30 PDT on Oct 31 (NC on Steam), NA West from 01:30 PDT on Nov 1 (NC on Steam).
The fourth weekly patch came with the maintenance of Oct 27, 2026 (PDT; Oct 28 in Europe), 4 hours 30 minutes from 23:30 PDT. It added Hard mode to the two-star Expeditions, Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island, at item level 2,700 with the same 4-minute Frenzy timer, 3 revives per player and rewards as the Oct 20 pair, each dungeon paying its own Ariel Fragment (Expeditions, Urugugu Canyon Guide, Vakron Sky Island Guide). Bosses got easier: in Normal Expeditions and Transcendence stage 1 their Attack falls by 15%, in Hard Expeditions and Transcendence stages 2 to 4 Attack and Damage Boost each fall by 10%, and in Transcendence stages 1 and 2 their HP falls by 6.5% so fewer fights run into Frenzy (Transcendence Dungeons). Base HP at level 45 rose from 4,702 to 6,202 for the Gladiator and Templar and to 5,702 for every other class, and the Assassin's Illusive Clone cooldown fell from 90 to 60 seconds (Classes). A new daily dungeon, the Odylium Repository, pays Soul Crystals by clear points and shares its entries with the Daeva Bio-Research Base. With the server transfer period over, the transfer tab left the shop and the Wind Breeze Merchants' Odyle Energy changed to 4 a week per character and 16 a week per server (Server Transfer Guide). Crafted gear can now be amplified as far as Expedition gear of similar stats (True Dragon and Star Dragon to level 3, White Dragon and Dark Dragon to level 5), and Tier 3 and Tier 2 Expedition gear can be transferred into Tier 2 and Tier 1 crafted gear. Gathering now needs level 45 instead of 10 and is limited to 1,000 gathers a day per server (Crafting and Gathering); deleting a character takes 7 days instead of 1, idle players return to the lobby after 30 minutes instead of 3 hours, Hidden Cubes spawn more often, and more players may enter the Abyss. The same day NC started a 28-day attendance event, Atreia's Call, to the maintenance of Dec 2 (CET), a new pass, Prelude to Flight, free with a 1,000 Quna premium track, to Dec 2, and new server pairings for the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts that can match a faction against itself (Daeva Pass, Spacetime Rift). Again the notes say nothing new of Ludra (NC on Steam; NC on Steam).
How long seasons will last is only loosely set. NC told Wccftech: "In general, they have a new season about every three months, and the global version will be similar", with the timing guided by live player data. As of Sep 30, 2026 NC had announced no global roadmap, no dated first content update and no date for a second global season, and NC America's Merv Lee Kwai told MMORPG.com on Sep 28 that the pace of global content was still undecided, because regions consume content at different speeds (MMORPG.com). The Korean updates above are a preview of what may follow.
Frequently asked questions
How often is Aion 2 updated? Almost every week. The Korean and Taiwanese service has had a regular Wednesday patch since launch, larger content updates every few weeks, and weekly developer livestreams.
What is the difference between a season and a chapter in Aion 2? NC has not defined the terms in English. A season, as creators describe it, resets rankings and Abyss matchmaking without wiping progress; Chapter 1 was NC's name for its first large content update, with a new class and regions.
What season is Aion 2 in? In Korea and Taiwan, NC's English releases name Season 2 and then Chapter 1, which is still the current chapter as of Oct 7, 2026. Fan sites and creators count a Season 3 from April 2026, and some call Chapter 1 season 4. The global version is in its Season 1, whose Daeva Pass runs to Dec 15, 2026.
Will the global version get the same updates as Korea? Eventually, but not at launch: it began with a changed version of Korea's first season, and NC expects it to run close to a year behind Korea in content. NC had announced no global roadmap as of Sep 30, 2026.
How long is a season in the global version? NC says Korea has a new season about every three months and the global version will be similar. The first global Daeva Pass runs from Sep 30 to Dec 15, 2026; no date for a second global season had been announced as of Sep 30, 2026.
Is there a Halloween event in Aion 2? Yes. The global version's first seasonal event began with the patch of Oct 13, 2026 (PDT) and runs to the maintenance of Nov 3: daily attendance and weekly missions pay Halloween Pumpkin Coins, which Coin Merchants in Verteron and Altgard exchange for upgrade materials, dungeon tickets and a skeleton breastplate skin.
Does the global version of Aion 2 have Hard mode Expeditions? Yes. Krao Cave and Draupnir got Hard with the patch of Oct 20, 2026 (PDT), at item level 2,600, and Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island with the patch of Oct 27 (PDT), at item level 2,700. Each player has 3 revives and the boss enrages after 4 minutes; the rewards include Ariel Fragments for the Ariel Daevanion Board.
What changed in the Aion 2 patch of Oct 27, 2026? Hard mode for Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island, weaker Expedition and Transcendence bosses, more base HP for every class at level 45, a new daily dungeon (Odylium Repository), higher Amplify caps for crafted gear, a level 45 requirement and a 1,000-a-day limit for gathering, and a 7-day wait to delete a character.
Where can I read Aion 2 patch notes in English? NC publishes English press releases for major updates. The full weekly notes are published officially in Korean, and the fan site Aion2 Hub publishes unofficial English translations.
