Spacetime Rift

The Spacetime Rift in Aion 2: portals into the other faction's half of Atreia every three hours, the one-hour stay, PvP and PvE flags, guards and Kisks, Sealed Dungeons and pets across the border, and the Korean siege Spacetime Rift: Domination.

The Spacetime Rift is the system of temporary portals in Aion 2 that lets players of one faction cross into the other faction's half of Atreia to fight, explore and clear content there. NC's hosts introduced rifts as the first type of PvP in their showcase of September 2026: the world is split into Elysea and Asmodae, and rifts are "portals that basically will let you switch to the other side". Because Elyos and Asmodians play on separate servers, the rift is the way into enemy territory, while The Abyss (Reshanta) is the shared battleground between the two. NC listed Rift as one of the game's four PvP modes in August 2025, alongside Arena, Battlefield and Abyss (NC); the others are covered on PvP.

When and where rifts open

NC's hosts say rifts open about every three hours, with three or four opening at the same time. There was no fixed number of players per portal yet: "we're still deciding that" for the global launch. Once through, a player has about one hour on the other side "to farm pets, to PvP", and then has to wait for the next opening three hours later.

Society Of Gaming, filming on the Taiwanese servers in December 2025, counts that as eight openings a day on each faction's map. The portals appear as purple marks on the map and minimap, and MR4KTV notes that each stays up for only about ten minutes, so players have to fly to one quickly. Society Of Gaming's footage shows the portal's own window with its level requirement of 45, the number of places remaining and a ten-minute usage time; he reads the limit as 400 players.

The Korean and Taiwanese service changed these rules several times in its first weeks. According to Fextralife's translations of the patch notes, the update of Nov 20, 2025 cut both the rift's duration and the stay in enemy territory from an hour to 30 minutes; Nov 21 raised the number of players who could enter to 200; Nov 26 set the level requirement for the rift quest and portal at 45, restored the one-hour stay, fixed the portal's duration at ten minutes and stopped players in a rift from attacking anyone more than five levels above or below them; and Dec 9 increased the portal locations to two per region and six per race.

PvP and PvE flags

Crossing does not force a fight. Every player carries a toggle between PvP and PvE, and NC's hosts explain that it has to be set before rifting and then cannot be switched off for about an hour, so nobody can kill someone and slip back into PvE mode. Players flagged for PvP on the other side are in a free-for-all with anyone else who is flagged.

Anders adds two cautions from the Korean servers. Players who enter only to farm field bosses, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds or pet monsters should keep the PvE flag, the default; but walking close to enemy guard NPCs draws their attention and flags the player for PvP automatically, and the cooldown of more than an hour means there is no switching back.

The flag was not there from the start. Society Of Gaming recalls that at launch anyone in a rift could attack enemies within five levels, but by December 2025 almost everyone crossed flagged for PvE, so there was little rift PvP left. aselon_eu's three-month review says the flag system came after players grew tired of having dungeon entrances camped, and that medals for kills had not tempted many back into PvP. The fan site aion2hub dates the PvE and PvP combat-state toggle to the Korean update of Dec 3, 2025.

Guards, Kisks and dying

The other faction's towns and merchant camps are protected by guard NPCs, and a player who passes too close simply dies; the hosts, who considered themselves well equipped, say the guards "pretty much one shot you". Fextralife's translations record the guards at major bases being strengthened and made immune to status effects on Nov 20, 2025, and more guards being posted around villages, Shugo Festa areas and the entrance to Verteron's fallen pillar on Dec 9.

A Kisk gives an invading group a foothold. Players can place one on the other side and bind to it, so that they resurrect nearby instead of being sent home, but the enemy faction can destroy it, so it has to be hidden; the hosts mention cliff sides as a favorite spot.

A timer at the top right of the screen counts down the hour, and when it ends the player is teleported home. A player killed in PvP is also sent all the way back and has to find another rift. MR4KTV's guide of September 2026 shows the same thing happening after a death to guards without a revival item: he is thrown out and has to wait another three hours.

What players do on the other side

For most characters the reason to cross is progression rather than PvP. The enemy map has its own set of about 60 Sealed Dungeons and its own Strongholds, which reward Daevanion crystals and materials for belts and amulets (Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, Daevanion Boards). Hidden cubes can be opened there too, but feathers cannot be collected. Anders counts over 100 Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds across both sides for the global launch, each to be cleared once per character, and MR4KTV reckons the enemy side takes four to six hours in total, spread over several visits, after which there is no need to return except for PvP.

On the global build Anders treats the crossing as part of leveling: clearing the Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds on the opposing faction's map is mandatory in his route, a player has only an hour on the other side, and characters come through the rift in PvE mode by default.

Pets are the other draw. A share of the monster types needed for a full pet collection live only on the other faction's side of the map, so filling the collection means taking the rift and hunting in enemy territory, ideally in PvE mode and away from the guards (Pets and Mounts). NC's hosts also point to the other side's different look, pets and missions as a reason to visit without making a second character.

Spacetime Rift: Domination

NC's release of Jun 17, 2026 listed Spacetime Rift: Domination among the content of Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow, without describing it (NC). aLuckyRO's reading of the Korean patch notes of Sep 2, 2026 describes it as new rift content for Altgard and Verteron, the older maps, since the newer Eltnen and Morheim have no Spacetime Rift so far. He gave the schedule as Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 20:00 to 23:00 Korean time; NC's own notes list Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with rounds at 8 PM and 11 PM (NC). He thinks the choice of the older maps makes it a candidate for the global version.

Domination turns the rift into a siege of garrisons. As an Asmodian, he expects to defend Altgard's garrisons while attackers try to take them, and the Elyos defend Verteron in turn. A special Kisk is sold for the event that only the attacking side can use, and the rewards include weekly medals for victory and participation. NC's Korean update notes of Sep 2, 2026 set out the rules. Attack and defense swap every week, Verteron with the Elyos defending one week and Altgard with the Asmodians defending the next. Entry needs level 50, item level 4,500, 500,000 combat power and every garrison in both regions already cleared, and each character gets three event keys a week, one used whenever it collects the rewards. Each side fields 60 to 200 players; the contest starts five minutes after the rift portal appears and lasts 25 minutes, and a special S-PvP mode lets only participants fight one another, although field guards can still attack them. One group of five garrisons is chosen at random, and the side holding the majority wins (NC). The fan site aion2hub reports later changes: the headcount widened to 25 to 500 on Sep 4, and the siege cut to four strongholds and fifteen minutes on Sep 9; NC's notes of Sep 16 raised the points for attacking Monoliths sharply (NC). None of this has been announced for the global servers.

Domination is separate from the Abyss Rift Zone, an event map in the Korean Abyss that Anders describes as organized battles and that was not confirmed for the global launch.

Rifts on the global version

NC's own streams presented rifts as part of the global game at launch, with the player limit still being tuned, and its release for Advanced Access on Sep 30, 2026 names "dimensional rifts" among the PvP modes open from the first day (Inven Global). NC's matchmaking post of Sep 29 explains who is met there: each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server for a limited time, the players met from the other faction in Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss come from that matched server, and the pairings are changed periodically to keep the factions balanced (NC on Steam; Servers). During early access the early access servers were matched only among themselves. Society Of Gaming's server guide of Sep 29, 2026 walks through the first pairings "for space-time rifts and abyss", such as Siel against Israphel in Europe and North America West, and reminds players that NC can change the matchmaking to equalize power, as it did in Korea and Taiwan. When NC reorganized the Korean Abyss into West and East forces on Mar 25, 2026, it said the Spacetime Rift would "continue to operate under the current race-based matchmaking system", so rifts stay an Elyos-against-Asmodian affair (NC; Chaotic Abyss). The rift was disabled in the Launch Scale Test of Sep 17 and 18, 2026, which also capped characters at level 37, well short of the level 45 needed to cross.

The first guides written on the live global servers match the Korean timings. Fubgun's gearing guide of Oct 3, 2026 says the rift opens every three hours, at 2:00 PM PDT and every three hours after on his server, and leads to the other faction's map, whose Sealed Dungeons pay 2,500 Enhance Stones each; Duky's guide of the same day adds that the portal stays open only five to ten minutes and that the visit lasts an hour (Level 45 Progression Guide). In Europe Playnews listed the same UTC hours on Oct 10, 2026; the Timers page counts down to each opening in your own time zone. Nothing in NC's global patch notes of Oct 6 or its maintenance notice of Oct 8, 2026 changes the rift, and Spacetime Rift: Domination had not been announced for the global version as of Oct 12, 2026.

Server transfers, from Oct 14, 2026, take the rift into account. NC's notice of Oct 9 says a character cannot apply for a transfer while it is in a Spacetime Rift (or in the Abyss or a dungeon) and has to be standing in a village, and its Q&A lists the remaining Spacetime Rift time among the usage records that move with the character. After a transfer the enemies met through a rift are those of the new server's paired server (Servers).

Frequently asked questions

How often does the Spacetime Rift open in Aion 2? About every three hours, with three or four portals at once, according to NC. Society Of Gaming counts eight openings a day on each faction's map, and each portal stays open for about ten minutes.

How long can you stay in enemy territory? One hour per Spacetime Rift in Aion 2. A timer shows the time left, and when it runs out the player is sent back to their own side.

Can enemy players attack you if you cross as PvE? No; in Aion 2's rifts only players flagged for PvP can fight each other. Guards can still kill a PvE player, and Anders warns that getting close to them flags the player for PvP.

What level do you need to use a rift? Level 45 in Aion 2, for both the rift quest and the portal.

What happens if you die on the other side? In Aion 2 a player killed in PvP, or by guards without a way to revive, is sent back and has to wait for another rift. A Kisk placed on the other side lets a group resurrect there, if the enemy does not destroy it.

What is Spacetime Rift: Domination? A scheduled siege added in Korea and Taiwan on Sep 2, 2026, in which one faction attacks the other's garrisons in Verteron or Altgard through the rift, for level 50 characters with item level 4,500 or more. It had not been announced for Aion 2's global version as of Oct 12, 2026.

Which players do you meet through a rift on the global servers? In Aion 2's global version, players of the server yours is paired with. NC pairs each Elyos server with an Asmodian server and changes the pairings periodically.

Could you use rifts in the Launch Scale Test? No. The Spacetime Rift was disabled for Aion 2's September 2026 test, and its level cap of 37 was below the level 45 requirement.

What time does the Spacetime Rift open on the global servers? Every three hours. Fubgun gave 2:00 PM PDT and every three hours after for his server in early October 2026; the purple portal marks on the map and minimap show each opening, and a portal stays up for about ten minutes.

Why use a rift if I do not want to PvP? For the enemy map's solo content. Crossing in PvE mode lets an Aion 2 character clear the other faction's Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, which Fubgun says pay 2,500 Enhance Stones each on the global version, and hunt pets found only there.

Is the Spacetime Rift open to free players? Yes. Rifts have been open on Aion 2's global servers since Advanced Access began on Sep 30, 2026 and to everyone since the free launch of Oct 5; the only requirement is level 45.

Does my rift time carry over when I transfer servers? Yes. NC's Q&A of Oct 9, 2026 lists Spacetime Rift time among the usage records that move with a character, but a transfer cannot be requested from inside a rift.
