Chanter
The Chanter of Aion 2: a staff-wielding melee support that heals, shields and buffs while it fights, with party-wide mantras, Fracturing Blow and Power of the Storm, the Barrier Spell Stigma, repeated buffs in 2026 and a hybrid place beside the Cleric.
The Chanter is the hybrid support class of Aion 2, a melee fighter armed with a staff whose attacks, blocks and mantras also heal, shield and strengthen its party. It is one of the eight launch classes, playable in Korea and Taiwan since Nov 19, 2025 and on the global servers since Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026, ahead of the free-to-play launch on Oct 5. NC describes it as "a versatile support role with multiplayer utility". EPIC PLK explains that it is not a class to understand from screenshots: it deals its own damage in melee, but almost every part of its kit also helps somebody else. The main healer is the Cleric, and all the classes are compared on Classes.

On the global servers
The Chanter is one of the eight classes of the global client, under that name. Ruca777's all-classes showcase, uploaded on Sep 30, 2026 as Advanced Access opened, ends with it: a level 30 Chanter fights the same boss as the other seven classes in a dark red arena, with the full interface on screen.
The Chanter was also the class NC's own broadcaster played in the Launch Scale Test. On NC's stream of Sep 18, 2026, community broadcaster Stella, asked what she was playing, described her Chanter as basically an off-healer, a healer "more damage focused" that has no resurrection, and said she found the class really fun. MassivelyOP's Tyler F.M. Edwards spent most of the same test on a Chanter, which he called a damage and support hybrid, and liked its role best of all the classes he tried, although he had more fun with the Cleric's visuals and sounds.
The global Chanter is the current Korean one, not the Chanter of Korea's launch. Society Of Gaming, who played the class on the European servers on the first day of the test, found leveling fast and easy, and pointed out that while the global version starts with Korea's first season of content, its skills come from a recent Korean patch: Spinning Strike, a melee skill in Korea until about two weeks earlier, was already a ranged skill on the global client.
CrusherXGaming's global tier list of Sep 28, 2026 puts the Chanter in S tier for its group utility, and reports, from a test run by others rather than himself, that the Chanter and Templar landed near the top of the charts in one equalized damage test from the Launch Scale Test. XifanGG's list of the next day ranks it A tier both for raid progression and for free-to-play players.
Role
Grobs describes the Chanter as the second support class, able to take care of a group's healing like the Cleric but in a different way: it has fewer purely healing abilities and makes up for them with shields and a much wider range of utility buffs. At the core of the class are its mantras, and the result is a support that improves the group's overall performance through damage buffs, movement speed and shields as well as heals. The Fextralife wiki describes a hybrid support with buffs and healing.
OmniPower's profile is a melee support hybrid that stays with the party close to the front line and contributes buffs, damage, off-healing and control. Its identity is to support first and then flex into whatever the party needs, and he calls it a jack of all trades, suited to players who like supporting a party without their whole game revolving around health bars.
SywoGG's pizza analogy makes the Chanter the tomato sauce, the bridge between the Cleric, the tank and the damage dealers that helps each of them both passively and actively. It carries less stress than a Cleric, needs no particular position on a boss, and has some ranged skills that let it move away without losing all its damage. He calls it casual-friendly: groups care slightly more about a Chanter's damage and gear than a Cleric's, but the buffs everyone needs come online quickly.
Mantras and party buffs
Society Of Gaming, who plans to main a Chanter at the global launch, calls its buffs the best in the game. One mantra gives the party PvE and PvP damage boosts and damage tolerance along with critical hit, critical damage, double chance and perfect chance; another, active at the same time, raises the party's movement speed and gives a 50% chance to restore health on landing an attack. OmniPower names them Undefeated Mantra and Sprint Mantra, toggles that can be switched on and left running without draining mana, and notes that Undefeated Mantra does not stack with the Cleric's Light of Protection. Grobs points out that movement speed does more than speed up travel: it can make some boss mechanics easier and give the whole group more room for mistakes.
Two active skills explain why the Chanter matters in a party. Fracturing Blow cuts a target's defenses by 30% for 5 seconds, so a group that knows the window is coming can hold its cooldowns, let the Chanter land the debuff and unload together. Power of the Storm gives the Chanter a stronger personal attack and cooldown window while sharing part of that attack bonus and cooldown reduction with the party; OmniPower describes it as raising combat speed and reducing cooldowns for himself and his party members.
Fighting in melee
EPIC PLK found melee on a Chanter better than he expected. It has enough movement tools that closing the distance does not become the whole game, and once in range it plays like a bulldozer, harder to stop the longer a fight lasts. Successful blocks can restore its health, continued attacks can turn into a barrier for itself and nearby party members, and a safety shield at low health sits alongside its active heals and heals over time, so when his health dropped he rarely panicked.
The result is a surprisingly tanky class. EPIC PLK describes stacking a passive by hitting a target ten times to earn a barrier, and says a Chanter is comfortable standing on the front line with the Templar and the Gladiator. Society Of Gaming agrees that it does not feel squishy, and puts its survivability close to the Cleric's.
Skills and rotation
OmniPower's Chanter binds Onslaught, its basic attack, to the left mouse button. Rushing Smash closes the gap and restores MP. Dark Crush, which he calls the class's bread-and-butter skill, can only be cast after Impactful Crush, Spinning Strike or a small set of other skills; Spinning Strike is a large area attack that grants a buff, and Incandescent Blow is the spammable area attack. Fracturing Blow closes the gap and lowers defenses, Impactful Crush can stun, Wave Blow knocks down stunned targets, and Tremor Crush, usable only after a dodge or in mid-flight, is a gap closer. His heals are Healing Touch, a large area heal for the party, and Recuperation, which removes debuffs while healing the party over time (see Skills, Stigmas and Macros).
The kit is no longer purely melee. Society Of Gaming reports that by September 2026 the Chanter had five ranged skills, that Spinning Strike had become a ranged area attack with a longer cooldown, and that Dark Crush, although nerfed, could be triggered by any ranged skill. CrusherXGaming, by contrast, describes a physical combo chain fought up close rather than a caster rotation.
Healing
For all normal dungeons, Grobs says, a Chanter is completely capable of being the group's healer, with enough healing and shielding to keep a party alive, and with a good group it is particularly strong for speed runs, bringing healing, powerful party buffs and respectable damage at once. Its limits show in difficult raids and progression fights with constant heavy damage, where it lacks the Cleric's tools and struggles to keep a group alive alone. CrusherXGaming agrees that a Chanter cannot out-heal a Cleric and should not try, and Society Of Gaming calls it a solid off-healer.
EPIC PLK notes that the Chanter does not automatically replace the Cleric in harder content, nor does it pretend to be a full damage slot; players treat it as a support and damage hybrid. That once made it awkward to fit into small parties, but with dungeon parties raised from four players to five he finds players much more positive about giving it a slot, because its buffs are worth it. Since Jul 1, 2026 in Korea, and from launch on the global servers, Expedition and Transcendence parties have five players. Society Of Gaming considers the Chanter and the Cleric both mandatory in top-end content.
Damage and the 2026 buffs
The developers have pushed the Chanter's offensive side. EPIC PLK reports that it was buffed again and again in July 2026 alone: Spinning Strike received a large PvE increase, several other skills went up, and another group of attacks gained a further 5% a week later, so claims that the Chanter has no damage may be out of date. Sorcerers and Assassins still kill much faster, a trade he accepts because part of the Chanter's power sits on everyone else. Society Of Gaming finds its damage clearly higher than the Cleric's, and SywoGG says a min-maxed Chanter's personal damage lands in the middle of the pack.
Solo play
CrusherXGaming says the Chanter solos comfortably, gets invited to everything and never sits in a queue, and calls it the best all-rounder in the game. EPIC PLK also found solo play comfortable, with good sustain and normal content never frightening, though he felt the class only shows its personality with other players around. Society Of Gaming gives it the edge over the Cleric in solo play, thanks to faster skill animations, higher damage and good self-sustain.
PvP
In PvP, Grobs says, the Chanter brings the same mix of healing and utility. It is not one of the strongest duelists but can compete and win plenty of match-ups, and in group fights its value rises sharply, as its mantras help a group engage or escape while its healing and shields protect it.
Society Of Gaming gives the Chanter the advantage over the Cleric in solo PvP, while wanting a Cleric in any group fight. EPIC PLK sees a class that can close the distance, stun, lower defenses and keep up pressure in melee while shielding and healing its team, and expects organized groups to find a place for it. SywoGG notes that its ranged skills make it wanted in group and zerg PvP for the stability it brings (see PvP).
Barrier Spell and the March 2026 overhaul
NC's class overhaul of Mar 25, 2026 in Korea and Taiwan gave the Chanter a new Stigma skill, Barrier Spell, one of a set added "to highlight each class's unique identity"; none of the sources used here describes its exact effect. The same update raised the Stigma slot limit to five, introduced Perfect Parry and Perfect Shield Block, and separated PvP and PvE damage calculations. The fan site aion2hub also reports a Korean healing rework in August 2026 that gave Cleric and Chanter heals a 40-meter radius while cutting their output by 20 to 50%; this wiki has not been able to confirm that change against an NC release.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Chanter a healer or a damage dealer? Something of both. It is a support first, with party-wide mantras, shields and heals, and it deals more damage than a Cleric while falling well short of the pure damage classes.
What weapon does the Chanter use? A staff.
Do the Chanter's buffs stack with the Cleric's? Not all of them. OmniPower notes that Undefeated Mantra does not stack with Light of Protection, and Grobs says some of their damage buffs override each other, although their heals, shields and cleanses combine well.
Can a Chanter heal dungeons without a Cleric? Normal dungeons, yes, according to Grobs. In the hardest raids creators expect a Cleric as well.
Is the Chanter good for solo play? Yes. CrusherXGaming, EPIC PLK and Society Of Gaming all find it comfortable solo, with good sustain.
What did the March 2026 overhaul add for the Chanter? A new Stigma skill, Barrier Spell, in Korea and Taiwan on Mar 25, 2026.
Can the Chanter resurrect? No. NC's broadcaster Stella noted during the Launch Scale Test that her Chanter had no resurrection, and Society Of Gaming says the Cleric is the only class with one.
Can I play a Chanter on the global version? Yes. It is one of the eight global classes, playable since Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026 and free to everyone from Oct 5.
