Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow
Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow, Aion 2's first major update in Korea and Taiwan on Jul 1, 2026: the Brawler class, level 50, Eltnen and Morheim, new dungeons and larger parties, Chaotic Upper Reshanta and Battlefield: Siege, and support for new and returning players.
Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow is the first major content update for Aion 2, released on the Korean and Taiwanese service on Jul 1, 2026. It added a ninth class, the Brawler, raised the level cap from 45 to 50, opened the regions Eltnen for the Elyos and Morheim for the Asmodians, brought new dungeons and PvP modes, enlarged parties, and introduced catch-up support for new and returning players (NC). NC revealed it at the SUMMER FESTA showcase in Seoul on Jun 14, 2026, and its Korean channel published a teaser for the Jul 1 update the same day (NC). The Korean title, 모래와 서리의 땅, is also translated Land of Sand and Frost. Everything on this page applies to Korea and Taiwan. The global version, open to Founder's Pack buyers since Sep 30, 2026 and to everyone from Oct 5, begins with earlier content: its class list and shop cover eight classes without the Brawler, press previews put its level cap at 45, and NC has given no date for the Brawler or level 50 there (Hardcore Gamer; GamesBeat; NC; MP1st).

Announcement at SUMMER FESTA
NC hosted the Aion2 SUMMER FESTA showcase at a hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on Jun 14, 2026, for 150 players chosen by lottery. After a performance by the K-pop group fromis_9 (fromis_9 Collaboration), the developers presented the roadmap. For Jul 1 they listed the Brawler, Eltnen and Morheim with 20 new Sealed Dungeons and six new Strongholds between them, Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary dungeons, Chaotic Upper Reshanta, Spacetime Rift: Domination, Battlefield: Siege and Outlands. The dungeons named were the Expeditions Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Consumed Deus Research Base, an Expedition: Ordeal mode in which players set their own difficulty, the Transcendence dungeons Noiran's Hidden Legacy and Abyssal Horn Den, and the Sanctuary Snowfield of Sorrow. NC also announced a single, cheaper membership tier, server-wide sharing of special-grade costumes and pets, auto-loot for every pet, a growth support system, Daeva Express to complete Strongholds, Sealed Dungeons and Empyrean Trace at once, and the Sprout Badge (NC).
Not all of it arrived on Jul 1. NC's release for the update names Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Abyssal Horn Den as the new dungeons (NC); according to the fan site Aion2 Hub's translations of the Korean notes, Consumed Deus Research Base and Noiran's Hidden Legacy followed on Aug 12, Spacetime Rift: Domination on Sep 2 and Snowfield of Sorrow on Sep 9 (Aion2 Hub).
The Brawler
The Brawler is a front-line class whose dedicated weapon is the Gauntlets. It specializes in close attacks and combo-based charges: basic attacks and active skills build Rage, and reaching a set amount of Rage triggers a Rampage state. To mark the new class, NC gave every player a free character slot (NC). Its class spotlight, under its Korean name 권성, was uploaded by aLuckyRO on the day of the SUMMER FESTA reveal.
EPIC PLK, a month in, finds the idea simple and the combat anything but. Once the Rage gauge fills, several of the Brawler's abilities switch into stronger versions, and endgame guides treat keeping Rampage active as the center of the whole rotation, since damage falls apart without it. Blocking is part of the system too: a successful block generates a large amount of Rage, so good players block boss attacks on purpose. The class was reworked several times in its first weeks, and the full kit is described on Brawler and Classes.
Eltnen and Morheim
Eltnen and Morheim return from the original Aion, Eltnen tied to the Elyos of Elysea and Morheim to the Asmodians of Asmodae. EPIC PLK, previewing the update on its release day, points out that they do not come back empty but bring new story quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds and outposts. NC adds Monoliths, where players earn progression rewards, and new equipment: the Pendant slot and Hero-grade Amulets and Belts (NC).
aLuckyRO's flying tour of Morheim, filmed for players outside Korea and Taiwan, shows new monsters, snowy mountains and polar bears, and a mix of green grass, snow and spring blossom that he singles out as the region's look. Later in the tour he finds the entrance to the Fire Temple in Morheim's lava fields and says the chapter's story centers on Kromede.
Madsin, after more than 20 hours of play on the Asmodian side, was disappointed to find that only about half of each map had opened, with the rest closed off for now. He likes both regions and prefers Eltnen, which carries its desert theme more consistently; Morheim's mix of snow and lava felt half-done to him, with little sense of a blizzard and lava canyons that mostly cannot be explored, though he calls the approach to the Fire Temple very cool.
He also notes that the original capitals of Eltnen and Morheim are missing, replaced by new capitals, and that a large part of the open area is barren, with no monsters, gathering or quests. Eltnen in particular is now mostly an arid canyon, without the desert and jungle of the original.
Dungeons, party sizes and progression
EPIC PLK lists the progression changes: the level cap rises from 45 to 50, the Stigma cap from 20 to 25, and parties grow from four to five, which he thinks changes group content completely by making room for more roles. NC's release confirms the level cap and Stigma enhancement to level 25, and sets the new sizes at five players for Expedition and Transcendence dungeons and ten for Sanctuary (NC; Leveling; Skills, Stigmas and Macros).
The two dungeons at release, the Expedition Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and the Transcendence dungeon Abyssal Horn Den, both require level 50 and item level 3,500, with higher difficulties needing more. Pets can now be ridden inside dungeons, the tickets once needed to enter Expedition and Transcendence dungeons were removed so that rewards are claimed with Odyle Energy, Nightmare gained Layer IV with the rewards of all earlier stages granted on clearing a stage, and the Ascension Trial gained a Doom difficulty from item level 4,000 (NC; Expedition Dungeons; Transcendence Dungeons; Nightmare and Ascension Trial).
In Madsin's view the new PvE was under-tuned for the average player. Even on Hard, the new Conquest boss died with more than two-thirds of its enrage timer left in groups of players without maximum gear. He still rates the dungeon one of the best released so far, apart from mini bosses that are too easy.
The new Transcendence dungeon fared worse with him: he calls it the worst Transcendence dungeon yet, essentially a shorter, slightly souped-up version of Ferocious Horn Den with virtually no changes, and easy with it.
PvP: Chaotic Upper Reshanta and Battlefield: Siege
Chapter 1 added two PvP modes. Chaotic Upper Reshanta is a zone of the Abyss where item level and combat power are capped and no bosses or Artifacts appear, and Battlefield: Siege has teams capture three zones to earn points, every team starting under identical conditions (NC; Chaotic Abyss; Battlefield).
EPIC PLK describes the new battle as a ten-minute point-capture mode with normalized stats. He sees the normalization as the key point, because it gives players worried about monetization one space where skill and teamwork matter more than gear, and the short format as easy to enter and repeat. He adds that the chapter's Outlands was billed as a 100-player battle royale.
Madsin is scathing about the new Abyss area. It was meant to let new players farm Abyss Points and weekly tasks without being hunted by endgame PvP players, but in his view it reuses the islands of the existing Abyss, and its item-level and combat-power limits are easy for strong players to slip under while keeping their best weapon and a few PvP pieces. It also drops unbound Kina and gold-grade equipment, which he expects to attract bots.
The battleground impressed him more. Of the PvP modes announced, which included rifting quests and a free-for-all battle royale, only the equalized ten-against-ten battleground was available in the first week. Everyone plays on even terms, with every skill at level 20 and every Stigma at 25, so organization and teamwork decide matches, though he sensed that Clerics were a little too strong and Templars a little weak (PvP).
New and returning players
A Sprout Badge goes to new players and to returning players who log in on or after Jun 14, 2026 after at least 28 days away. Existing players who run Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary dungeons with a badge-holder receive half of the Odyle Energy the Sprout player spends, and the badge lasts up to 30 days or until the player reaches the set combat power and item level. Returning players can also buy tokens in the shop for four optional support packages: Exciting First Step, which provides equipment and completes Strongholds, Sealed Dungeons and Empyrean Trace; Taking Flight, which lifts a character to about 300,000 combat power; New World Explorer, with growth materials such as Sync Stones and cosmetic boxes; and Slow But Steady, which pays currencies through repeatable missions (NC).
Madsin calls the growth support fantastic and more generous than he expected, saying Taking Flight, which he describes as available with the subscription, brings a character right up to the new patch. As a catch-up mechanic he thinks it works for both existing and returning players, though he would like helpers of Sprout players to get more than extra Odyle Energy (Membership).
Reception
Madsin's verdict after the first days was mixed. He liked the balance changes, the Cleric changes, the Stigma level increase and the growth support, and found the new dungeons a mixed bag, but felt NC had gated much of the chapter to trickle out over time, leaving an update that seemed under-scaled, under-baked and incomplete rather than the next big step for the game. EPIC PLK, previewing the update on release day, thought the content side strong and the monetization cleaner than at launch but still not safe to ignore.
