Brawler

The Brawler, Aion 2's ninth class: a Gauntlet fighter added in Korea and Taiwan with Chapter 1 on Jul 1, 2026, built around Rage, Rampage and frontal attacks, reworked in its first weeks, and not on the global servers that opened on Sep 30, 2026, with no date announced.

The Brawler is the ninth class of Aion 2, a front-line melee damage dealer that fights with Gauntlets. NC released it in Korea and Taiwan on Jul 1, 2026 with the Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow update, making it the first class added since the game launched there with eight. Its basic attacks and active skills build Rage, and once the gauge is high enough the Brawler enters Rampage, a state that strengthens its skills. OmniPower sums up its identity as "build rage, rampage, then combo". The Brawler is not among the eight classes of the global version, live since Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026, and NC has announced no date for it; the other classes are compared on Classes.

Announcement and release

NC unveiled the Brawler with the rest of Chapter 1 at its Aion 2 SUMMER FESTA showcase, held for 150 invited players at a hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on Jun 14, 2026, alongside the new regions Eltnen and Morheim. The class went live on Jul 1, 2026. NC's English release describes it as a class that, "using its dedicated weapon, the Gauntlets", specializes in "front-line attacks and combo-based charges", and to celebrate its arrival NC gave every player one free character slot. CrusherXGaming calls it the first class built around the Gauntlet, with a Rage gauge as its hook.

Rage and Rampage

Rage is the engine of the class. Normal attacks and active skills fill the gauge; when it reaches the required point the Brawler enters Rampage and several abilities switch to stronger versions, so the player is always working towards Rampage and then trying to keep it running long enough to land the real damage. EPIC PLK, who drew on Korean end-game guides as well as his own play, reports that those guides treat Rage management as the center of the whole rotation, and that without good Rampage uptime the Brawler's damage falls apart. Blocking is part of the system: a successful block can generate a large amount of Rage, so experienced players block boss attacks on purpose rather than only in a panic.

In Sen's skill showcase, recorded a day after the class went live, Rampage itself is a skill. Once started it consumes Rage every second and ends when Rage reaches zero; while it lasts it raises combat speed, frontal attack damage, PvE damage by 10% and PvP damage by 5%, and applies Rampage effects to all skills.

Fighting from the front

Most melee classes try to get behind a boss; the Brawler wants to stand in front of it. EPIC PLK notes that several skills reward frontal attacks, that Exploding Fist can increase frontal damage amplification, that Whirlwind can move the Brawler back to a target's front, and that Chapter 1 introduced a whole group of frontal combat stats alongside the class. The catch is that the front of a boss is where its worst attacks land, which is why boss knowledge matters so much: a Brawler has to know which attacks can be blocked, when a charge can continue, and when staying put will end the run.

The passive skills Sen shows lean the same way. One raises the Brawler's block and restores health on every block, others add accuracy, critical hit and a chance of extra damage on frontal attacks, and a later passive restores 35% of maximum health immediately when health falls to 10% or less.

Skills

The Brawler's active skills are close-range blows, many of which hit up to four enemies around it. Sen's showcase runs through them in order, and CrusherXGaming names most of the same kit: Flurry, Roundhouse, Whirlwind, Ground Smash, Ascending Blow, Exploding Fist and Chain Fist.

Skill What it does, as shown by Sen on Jul 2, 2026
Flurry Damages up to four enemies within 4 m and restores 10 Rage
Roundhouse A kick that damages up to four enemies and deals stagger damage
Whirlwind Rushes to a target and moves between up to four enemies
Chain Fist Triggers on a critical hit and damages up to four enemies; in Rampage it triggers regardless of critical hits
Ground Smash An area attack with a stun
Exploding Fist A charged blow that grows stronger through three charge levels; instant in Rampage
Defiance Removes stun, knockdown, airborne, grab, frost and fear from the Brawler

Exploding Fist is the skill Sen singles out. Holding the key raises it through its charge levels, each dealing more damage, and in Rampage it becomes an instant cast. A rushing shoulder charge with a chance to stun serves as the Brawler's gap closer, including out of a dash or flight.

Stigmas

Like every class, the Brawler has a pool of Stigma skills to choose from (see Skills, Stigmas and Macros). Sen's showcase includes a charging cleave that stuns, a Focused Block that Sen compares to the Gladiator's, a step to the far side of a target, a skill that restores half of the Brawler's Rage and raises its PvE and PvP damage, a chance to summon clones that attack, a strike that reduces enemies' incoming healing, a ranged energy blast at 20 m, and Unstoppable, which prevents the Brawler's health from falling. The newest, in Sen's words, marks a zone that the Brawler returns to after eight seconds, damaging and possibly stunning enemies around it.

Changes after release

The class changed quickly in its first weeks in Korea and Taiwan. EPIC PLK reports that the July updates made Focused Block faster and able to cancel another skill immediately, so a Brawler can react to an attack instead of blocking half a second too late.

By EPIC PLK's account, the Brawler received lifesteal and bug fixes a week after launch, then faster block and attack animations, and an update on Jul 22, 2026 reworked Ascending Blow, made Rampage impossible to dispel, sped up the normal form of Exploding Fist and changed several specializations. He adds that sustain improved when Ground Smash and a block skill gained lifesteal, though not enough to drain health from a whole room of enemies, and warns against treating any tier list as permanent while so much of the kit is still moving.

Playing the Brawler

EPIC PLK titles his review "the hardest class yet". A new Brawler is learning boss patterns, frontal positioning, manual charge attacks and Rage management all at once, and can look terrible while doing it; he contrasts it with the Gladiator, whose basic job he understood immediately. His verdict is that the Brawler is demanding rather than weak, with heavy, full-body animations that make it one of the most satisfying classes to watch when it works.

Society Of Gaming, who leveled a Brawler to 45, compares it most closely with the Assassin: fast, dependent on low ping, and different mainly in its Rage meter, which has to be filled before certain skills are used. He found it performing well in both PvP and PvE on the Korean and Taiwanese servers, while declining to judge a class the developers were still polishing.

In PvP the Brawler is dangerous once it is close, with engage tools, crowd control, blocks and unstoppable skills. Its problem is reaching ranged characters: EPIC PLK cites Brawlers who found a gap-closing option almost mandatory to avoid spending the fight chasing, and a recent PvP report describing the class as extremely fragile whenever a block is mistimed (PvP).

Absence from the global launch

The global version has eight classes. GamesBeat's report of NC's gamescom presentation on Aug 25, 2026 describes "eight launch classes", and creators preparing players for the Global Release, among them Grobs, Society Of Gaming and CrusherXGaming, all said the Brawler would not be in that lineup. The global client bore them out when Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026: NC's global site lists eight classes, and the launch shop sells class weapon skins for eight weapon types, from the Greatsword to the Orb, with none for Gauntlets. OmniPower left the Brawler's skill setup out of his class guide for the same reason: nobody knows when it will arrive or how much it will change first.

EUTOPIA's pre-launch guide of Sep 29, 2026 turns this into a warning about tier lists: the Brawler exists overseas but is not part of the global launch roster, and the global version launches on a modified Season 1 setup, so rankings from Korea and Taiwan need care.

No date has been given. NC's global team told Hardcore Gamer in June 2026 only that the global service would start close to a year behind Korea in content, with a backlog to roll out, and NC America told Wccftech in September 2026 that the West launches with a modified version of Korea's first season, without naming a date for the Brawler. MassivelyOP's Tyler F.M. Edwards, writing after the Launch Scale Test, found the Brawler more mechanically distinct than the other classes because of its Rage mechanic, and described the dilemma its absence leaves: play at launch and risk rerolling a new main when it arrives, or wait for it and miss the launch rush.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play the Brawler on the global version? Not at launch. The global version, live since Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026 and free to everyone from Oct 5, has eight classes, and NC had announced no date for the Brawler as of Sep 30, 2026.

When will the Brawler come to the global version? NC has not said. Its global team has spoken only of a content backlog to roll out after launch, and any date circulating among players is a guess.

What weapon does the Brawler use? Gauntlets, the dedicated weapon NC introduced with the class.

What is Rampage? The Brawler's empowered state. Rage builds through attacks, skills and blocks, and at a set level the Brawler can enter Rampage, which drains Rage every second while boosting combat speed and frontal damage and strengthening its skills.

Where should a Brawler stand in a boss fight? In front of the boss. Several skills and Chapter 1's frontal stats reward frontal attacks, which is also why a Brawler must know which of the boss's attacks to block.

Is the Brawler hard to play? Creators think so. EPIC PLK calls it the hardest class yet and "demanding, not weak", and Society Of Gaming notes that it depends heavily on ping.

Did players get anything when the Brawler launched? Yes. NC gave every player in Korea and Taiwan one free character slot to celebrate the new class.
