Artifact Siege

Artifact Siege in Aion 2: the scheduled faction battles over artifacts in the Abyss, how often they run, what holding an artifact gives, Artifact Resonance, the solo Abyss Corridor, and the artifacts of the Korean Chaotic layers.

Artifact Siege is the scheduled battle for the artifacts of the Abyss in Aion 2, when each side of the faction war gathers to capture objectives that decide how many Abyss Points its players earn that week. NC's own hosts call it the artifact war, "when you want to come together with your faction", and say it runs about three times a week at each server's prime time. The artifacts stand in The Abyss (Reshanta), the always-on PvP zone between the two factions' lands, where players have fought over "field bosses, artifacts, and Abyss Points" since NC first showed the zone in September 2025 (NC). Winning an artifact opens the Abyss Corridor, a short solo instance full of monsters worth Abyss Points. The wider picture of player-versus-player modes is on PvP.

How a siege works

In the footage NC played of a full-scale battle, one faction pours damage into an artifact while the other flies in to kill the attackers. If the attackers capture it, the host explains, it opens "this other artifact called the Abyss Corridor". Elyos and Asmodians play on separate servers, so sieges are one of the few places where large numbers of both meet.

Anders, who played the mode in Korea, calls sieges "the node wars of Aion 2". Both factions race to destroy the artifact's boss before the other does, and the winner controls that node until the next siege. Holding nodes raises a faction's Abyss Point collection and gives access to the corridor.

MR4KTV's guide of September 2026 describes the same fight from the Taiwanese servers: players enter the Abyss map for a server-against-server battle over marked areas, and the side that lands the final blow on an artifact unlocks it. He also puts the frequency at about three times a week.

NC says players will not need to track the schedule alone. Notices will announce schedule changes, the Abyss interface pops up an alert as an artifact battle is about to start, and on-screen timers count down to it. Accounts of the frequency differ: NC's hosts said about three times a week and Anders says every few days, while Society Of Gaming's endgame guide says sieges happen twice a week and tells players to check afterwards whether their faction took the corridors.

Artifact Resonance and rule changes

Artifact Resonance is part of the siege system, although neither NC's English releases nor the fan translations explain in detail how it works. Fextralife's translation of the notes of Nov 26, 2025 raised the resonance requirements and set a 48-hour wait before an Abyss artifact conquest war can resume (Patch Notes, Fextralife). NC's Season 2 roadmap of Jan 7, 2026 promised convenience improvements to Artifact Resonance alongside changes to Abyss gear balance and Abyss Point acquisition limits (NC; Season 2). The fan site aion2hub reports that the Korean update of Aug 19, 2026 raised the stats of Abyss bosses and Artifacts sharply, and NC's Korean notes of Aug 26 and Sep 2 raised the Abyss bosses and the Dimensional Core, the target of an artifact battle, again. The server rematches of Aug 26 and Sep 9 reset every artifact and Abyss Corridor to unclaimed (NC; NC; NC).

The latest change came on Sep 30, 2026, the day global early access opened, and applies to Korea and Taiwan only. Artifact battles stay on Wednesdays and Saturdays but now start at 9:20 PM, 9:50 PM or 10:20 PM Korean time depending on the server's matching group, and the Abyss bosses that follow them were moved to match. To shorten drawn-out fights, a Dimensional Core that has not been killed within eight minutes of the start receives a Decay of Power debuff that lowers its damage tolerance and resistance to strikes (NC; Gameple).

The Abyss Corridor

The corridor is "a mini dungeon of sorts". In Anders's account the number of entries depends on how many nodes the faction won at the last siege, and each run lasts two minutes and ten seconds, with monsters on every side of the player, who simply turns in a circle killing them. He calls it unexciting but very useful for Abyss Points.

aselon_eu's Kina guide agrees on the shape: a short solo instance that becomes available while the faction controls the corresponding artifact, with one entry per character per capture, which in practice comes round about once every three days. Because entries are per character, he suggests running the corridor on alternate characters and spending their Abyss Points on PvP manastones to craft and sell.

Once inside, nobody else can enter, so a player farms the corridor's monsters alone; MR4KTV's Abyss Point tally passes 15,000 during his run. Getting there carries its own risk. A losing faction cannot teleport in, but he warns that its players know exactly where the winners will arrive and wait there to kill them. Sieges also keep fixed times, so a player who arrives late misses the fight.

The Korean notes have adjusted the corridor too. Abyss Points earned there no longer count towards the daily PvE acquisition limit (Nov 26, 2025), and from Dec 9, 2025 its information and teleport functions work only from inside the Abyss, according to Fextralife's translations.

Why take part

NC's August 2026 preview presented the siege as the Abyss's timed objective: the winning side gets a controlled point on the map and access to a zone for "protected farming", where Abyss Points come without the fear of being killed by other players.

Those points matter even to players who avoid PvP. Abyss Points buy more Stigma skill points (Skills, Stigmas and Macros), and together with medals they buy PvP gear. That is why Anders argues that even players who care little for PvP should show up for sieges, since a win helps the whole faction get more out of the Abyss. NC's hosts make the same case: the corridors let a faction's players farm a large amount of Abyss Points every week, so taking part in the wars helps both individual characters and the faction as a whole.

Artifacts on the Chaotic layers

The Korean and Taiwanese Abyss has changed shape several times. aLuckyRO's tour of Chaotic Middle Reshanta in April 2026 shows a map with a base at each end and three artifacts, all held by the Elyos at the time, on a layer where players can only glide. Anders lists the same layer as needing level 45 and 3,000 item level and adding three more artifact nodes to fight over.

Since Mar 25, 2026 these battles in Korea and Taiwan have been part of the Chaotic Abyss, which divides players into West and East forces at server level rather than by race (NC). Chaotic Upper Reshanta, added with Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow on Jul 1, 2026, caps item level and combat power and has no bosses or Artifacts at all (NC).

Artifact Siege on the global version

The global version, open in Advanced Access since Sep 30, 2026 and to everyone from Oct 5 (Global Release), starts with a single Abyss map, according to Anders: Chaotic Lower Reshanta, which needs level 45 and 1,000 item level. The other Korean layers are expected later. NC's September 2026 stream described artifact battles three times a week at prime time for each server, but no NC global notice had named Artifact Siege or published a schedule as of Sep 30, 2026.

Creators preparing global players describe the Korean rhythm. Grobs's checklist of Sep 28, 2026 puts the artifact siege on every Wednesday and Saturday, with both factions fighting over three artifacts; each win gives the faction's players an Abyss Corridor, two minutes of killing monsters for Kina and Abyss Points, and he shows his own faction holding two corridors.

Performance is the other preparation. In his settings guide of Sep 30, 2026 Grobs warns that the game "is really not optimized" for large-scale content, and tells anyone joining sieges or large battles to switch on identical player appearance, limit particle effects to their own character and hide other players' pets, "because otherwise it will be most likely unplayable".

The opponents are set by server pairing. NC's matchmaking post of Sep 29 pairs each Elyos server with an Asmodian server for the Abyss "for a limited time" and says the pairings will change periodically to keep the factions balanced (NC on Steam; Servers). During early access the early access servers are matched only among themselves; after launch, NC's notice of Jul 17, 2026 says servers are matched by how far along and how strong each one is (NC). The Launch Scale Test of Sep 17 and 18 capped characters at level 37, so nobody reached the Abyss or its sieges before early access.

Frequently asked questions

How often does Artifact Siege happen in Aion 2? About three times a week at each server's prime time, according to NC's stream of Sep 11, 2026, which gave no fixed days. In Korea and Taiwan NC's notes put it on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with start times from 9:20 PM to 10:20 PM Korean time depending on the server group since Sep 30, 2026. No global schedule had been published as of that day.

What does winning an Artifact Siege give? Control of the artifact until the next siege. That raises the faction's Abyss Point collection and opens the Abyss Corridor to its players.

What is the Abyss Corridor? A solo instance of about two minutes packed with monsters that give Abyss Points. Each character can enter once per capture while the faction holds the artifact.

Do you need to be good at PvP to help? No. Anders and NC's hosts both encourage PvE players to join, since a win improves Abyss Point income for everyone on the winning side, and the corridor itself has no enemy players.

Are there artifacts in Chaotic Upper Reshanta? No. NC's release of Jul 6, 2026 says the capped zone has no bosses or Artifacts.

Could you try Artifact Siege in the Launch Scale Test? No. The test stopped at level 37 and the Abyss needs level 45.

Does Korea's Sep 30, 2026 siege change apply to the global servers? No. The new start times and the Decay of Power debuff are in NC's Korean update notes and apply to the Korean and Taiwanese servers.
