Season 2

Aion 2's second season in Korea and Taiwan, from Jan 21, 2026: NC's roadmap of new Expeditions, raids, Ascension Trials, Transcendence and Sanctuary, Middle Reshanta, the seasonal model, build presets and the balance and quality-of-life changes that came with it.

Season 2 is the second content season of Aion 2 on the Korean and Taiwanese service, which began on Jan 21, 2026, two months after the game's launch. NC announced it on Jan 7, 2026 with a roadmap that added a new dungeon every week or two, from the Expedition Dying Dramata's Nest to the Sanctuary Corroded Decontamination Facility, activated a new zone of the Abyss called Middle Reshanta, and promised changes to reduce player fatigue (NC). A teaser trailer and web page followed days before the start, which aLuckyRO walked through for English-speaking players. The same release reported that Aion 2 had passed KRW 100 billion in cumulative revenue within 46 days of launch and that more than a million characters had bought a membership; both figures are NC's own. Other updates are listed on Updates and Seasons.

The roadmap

NC's roadmap promised significant PvE expansions across Expedition, raid, Ascension Trial and Nightmare content, with new dungeons in each, and targeted changes to PvP in the Abyss (NC). Its calendar ran as follows.

Planned date Content
Jan 21 Expedition Dying Dramata's Nest; raids Fallen Orcus's Heart and Farfnite Forge; Ascension Trials Depository of Fates and Tyrant's Hideout
Jan 28 Expedition Cradle of Nihility
Feb 4 Transcendence dungeon Submerged Life Temple, stages 1 to 10
Feb 18 Hard difficulty for Dying Dramata's Nest and Cradle of Nihility
Feb 25 Sanctuary Corroded Decontamination Facility

Not everything arrived on those dates. The Sanctuary opened on Mar 11, 2026 (NC). According to the fan site Aion2 Hub's translations of the Korean patch notes, Cradle of Nihility came with the patch of Feb 11, and the Transcendence dungeon, which the site translates as Sunken Temple of Life, on Feb 25 with four stages rather than ten (Aion2 Hub).

Reading the Korean teaser page before the season started, aLuckyRO picked out four new Conquest bosses and saw the original Aion in them: one resembles Padmarashka, another looks like a reincarnation of Bakarma, and the fourth reuses the look of the heavy guards of Tiamaranta's Eye. He welcomed the nostalgia of seeing the first game's designs rebuilt.

He also found the Nightmare dungeon reworked with seven new bosses and a new final boss (Nightmare and Ascension Trial), repeated a data-mined rumor, which he stressed was not guaranteed, that the new Conquest dungeons would need 3,500 gear score to enter, and expected their Hard modes within one or two weeks.

The raids, as he describes them, are a casual weekly dungeon run three times a week on two maps that rotate week by week, and Season 2 added two more maps.

New dungeons

Dying Dramata's Nest opened the season on Jan 21 as a new four-star, or Tier 4, Expedition, and Cradle of Nihility followed as the second. The raids Fallen Orcus's Heart and Farfnite Forge and the solo Ascension Trials Depository of Fates and Tyrant's Hideout were scheduled for the same day. The fan translation of the Jan 21 notes adds that Dying Dramata's Nest dropped Unstable Stigma Shards and that Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary runs gained a party-leader retry option and final-boss kill counts (Aion2 Hub).

Submerged Life Temple, the season's Transcendence dungeon, works like the others of its kind: a party must kill a set number of monsters, two points for a regular monster and 45 for a mini boss, before the final arena opens. Madsin's guide, published on Mar 3, 2026 and focused on tier three, lists the effects that grow with each tier: from level two a reduction to health leech that reaches 50 per cent, from level three star-shaped projectile attacks from bosses, and at level four a poison cloud like the one in Dying Dramata's Nest whenever an elite dies.

The season's high point was the Sanctuary Corroded Decontamination Facility, set in a ruined Balaur base and, in NC's words, the most challenging PvE dungeon then available, with Terminator Bargott as its final boss.

Seasons, rankings and build presets

Xela's summary of the roadmap stresses what the season structure itself meant: NC confirmed that Aion 2 runs in seasons, and each season resets rankings and reshuffles Abyss matchmaking without wiping anyone's content, so late starters are not punished. Rankings also became class-based, so a Templar competes with other Templars; NC's release names class-based rankings for the Ascension Trial and the Daily Dungeon (Daily Dungeons and Shugo Festa).

From Jan 21 players could also save whole builds, including skills, gear, Stigmas, Arcana and titles, as combat presets and swap between them instantly, for example between a PvP set, a raid set and a farming set, alongside a full wardrobe system. The fan translation of the notes says the wardrobe became server-wide, sharing owned appearances and dyes between a server's characters, and that a new Scale slot was added for Arcana.

The season's first change came two weeks early, in the update of Jan 7. Genus Insight and pet ownership, which had been tracked per character, became shared across each server, with Genus Insight taken from the best character's value and pet levels combined across all characters (NC). Xela, who calls it account-wide, adds that the soul cost of leveling pets was halved, which ended the need to re-farm pets on every alt (Pets and Mounts).

NC's list of planned quality-of-life changes also included adjustments to how Expedition and Transcendence tickets were consumed, new Arcana slots, expanded Sync options for armor and easier boss mechanics for encounters that target melee players. The fan translation adds an Inheritance system in the Jan 21 patch that moves an item's enhancement and soul-engraving stats onto another item of the same grade and slot, a skill macro feature on Jan 28 and the Soul Binding system on Feb 11 (Aion2 Hub).

Xela goes through the melee changes in detail: fewer random roots and less unavoidable damage so melee classes keep their uptime. Some mechanics in Krao Cave would no longer reach melee range, damage over time from the first boss of Vakron Sky Island would tick more slowly, and Kromede's arrow rain in the Fire Temple would hit only once.

The Abyss in Season 2

Season 2 activated Middle Reshanta, a new high-tier zone of the Abyss with item-level entry restrictions, and brought convenience changes to Artifact Resonance in Artifact Siege, rebalanced Abyss gear and changed the limits on earning Abyss Points (NC). The fan translation of the Jan 21 notes gives the zone as Chaotic Ereshranta Middle, open seven hours a week and charged in one-hour blocks (Aion2 Hub).

aLuckyRO's preview of the new Abyss zone lists new bosses, a new artifact and a new shop for Abyss farming, and he hoped the season would reset Abyss Point rankings.

Xela calls the Abyss rebuild perhaps the biggest change of all. Weekly Abyss Point caps were replaced by season caps that start low and rise each week, so players who miss a week can catch up, and from Feb 11 a PvE and PvP mode let players who only want to farm do their Abyss dailies without being forced into fights, as the open world already allowed.

PvP and PvE gear were also separated: Abyss gear now raises PvP power but lowers PvE damage, so it stops being the best choice for raids, and high-end gear gained separate PvP and PvE item levels.

March 2026

The season's later weeks brought two large updates. On Mar 11 the Corroded Decontamination Facility opened, Elyos and Asmodians became able to form PvE parties together, and a fourth round of server matching began for the Abyss (NC). On Mar 25 a class overhaul added a new Stigma skill for every class, raised Stigma slots to five and introduced Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry; the same update launched the Chaotic Abyss, which splits a server into West and East forces regardless of race, added Kina (Bound) and separated PvP and PvE damage calculations (NC; Skills, Stigmas and Macros; Kina and Quna).

Midway through the season, aselon_eu's three-month review found some good news on gear progression. Special Hero items available through the Substance Morph menu let players reroll stats without sacrificing other equipment, a stat transfer system moved every stat row from one item to another, and the latest patch had removed its 10 million Kina cost, making transfers free (Gear Progression).

End of the season

NC's English releases do not give Season 2 an end date. The fan archive Aion2 Hub labels the patch of Apr 8, 2026, which added the Hall of Illusion Expedition and the Yustiel Daevanion, as the launch of Season 3 (Aion2 Hub), and NC's own release of May 13, 2026 refers to "Season 3 Arcana" (NC).

aLuckyRO's tour of the rebuilt chaotic middle layer of Reshanta was filmed on what he calls the second day of the season 3 update, on Apr 10, 2026. The next update NC named in English was Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow on Jul 1, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

When did Aion 2 Season 2 start? On Jan 21, 2026 in Korea and Taiwan. NC announced the season and its roadmap on Jan 7.
