Kromede

31:31 Kromede is a boss from the original Aion who returns in Aion 2 as the last boss of the Fire Temple, an Expedition dungeon reimagined from the original game. NC first showed the fight live on its Aion2NIGHT broadcast of Aug 8, 2025, with the development team taking four of the eight classes against her (NC). On NC's global dungeon stream of Sep 4, 2026 a senior producer called her one of his favorite fights in the game and singled out her flame wall, the mechanic that made him start tailoring his character and add movement speed to his gear. In Korea and Taiwan she also lends her shattered fragments to a Transcendence dungeon, Mirror of Scarlet Desire.

A classic boss reimagined

When NC unveiled Aion 2's content on May 29, 2025 it named the Fire Temple, "a fan-favorite from the original", as fully reimagined, with new boss mechanics, dungeon layouts and cinematic elements (NC, Jun 4, 2025). The Kromede fight was the centerpiece of the August 2025 broadcast, and NC reported that viewers responded enthusiastically to its modernized visuals and dynamic combat (NC, Aug 12, 2025).

32:47 The fight opens with a cinematic in which she bursts through a glass wall. NC's producer explained that there is a story reason for fighting these bosses: the dungeons tie into the main story quests and add to the overarching plot. The stream's hosts admitted feeling bad for invading her home, and wanting her weapons and wings anyway.

1:35 Kromede's story continued in Korea and Taiwan. Madsin, who plays Asmodian, felt that the main story of Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow (Jul 1, 2026) centered on her, and that it would have made a better introduction to her than the Fire Temple and the Mirror dungeon, which players had already run many times. It struck him as odd to reach the Fire Temple as a place on the map only after fighting her so often.

Reaching her

21:43 On the global version, Expedition dungeons unlock while leveling: Krao Cave at level 20, Urugugu Canyon at 28, the Fire Temple at 35 and three more at 45. Each starts in Exploration mode, where a Shugo helper teaches the mechanics, and NC's team recommends picking up a weapon from Fire Temple Exploration. Conquest, the harder mode for maximum level, unlocks at 45 and is not available in the Launch Scale Test.

22:35 The global rewards are deliberately limited. NC said there will be no Heroic gear in global season 1, so the Fire Temple drops only its regular weapons, not their Heroic variants, "to slow the pace of progression" after seeing how hard players pushed for Heroic gear in Korea.

In the Korean version, RedCloud's guide of December 2025 notes that Fire Temple Conquest was listed at item level 2,200 but that groups generally wanted 2,500 or more, and that the Heroic item in its reward cube then was a ring. The path to Kromede passes two earlier bosses and an elite that patrols the stairs. See Gear Progression.

The fight

11:07 Kromede punishes distance and position. RedCloud explains that she dashes to whichever player is furthest from her, that her front should be avoided even though it is hard to tell front from back, and that a rectangular stomp stuns. A circle falls on the whole party, costing anyone it catches a defensive cooldown, and she charges one player and pulses a growing area around herself.

12:29 Her flame wall is the attack that kills the most players, especially those with high ping. A Cleric or a character with immunity can walk through it and take little damage. RedCloud, playing with around 130 ms of latency, dodges early and into the tail end of the wall, because with lag a dodge timed in the middle is actually registered against the wall behind.

13:36 Every flame wall is followed by the same move: she raises her bow to the sky and rains flame arrows on the party. The answer is to dodge once and keep running in a circle, never stacking on another player, and then to dodge the arrows she fires straight ahead.

16:07 After a stagger phase she moves to the center of the room for a clone attack: she hits one player with a frontal attack while each of the other four is targeted by a clone with a wide frontal of its own, dealing very heavy damage. Late in the fight the flame walls come with lines of fire as well, and RedCloud advises saving immunities and potions for that stage.

33:38 On NC's stream the team stressed movement speed, since Kromede flies around the arena and her stun is punishing. The producer said he and a colleague had run the dungeon 40 or 50 times before they learned her rotation, and that it feels very rewarding once learned.

Kromede's wings

1:03:25 Kromede's wings are a prestige item. Every kill drops a feather, and enough feathers craft her wings; the full wings can also drop outright for a lucky player. As NC's producer put it, a player wearing them is someone who has farmed Kromede.

21:20 A member of NC's team also named Kromede's wings his favorite on the global preview stream of Aug 7, 2026. Wings form a collection, and a player can equip one pair for its stats and show another on top as a skin; playing a Cleric, he equips wings whose stats suit healing and wears Kromede's wings over them as the look. Wings sold in the shop carry no stats at all (see Flight and Wings).

Mirror of Scarlet Desire

The Korean and Taiwanese update of May 13, 2026 added Mirror of Scarlet Desire, a Transcendence dungeon "set within a fantastical space born from love within the shattered fragments of Kromede". It needs item level 3,200, with higher requirements at higher difficulty tiers (NC).

3:41 Kromede haunts the whole dungeon. Games On explains that at higher stages every boss hit adds a stacking debuff: at stage three it summons an illusion of Kromede that strikes in a straight line, and at stage four an illusion that explodes around the player.

5:43 After the second boss a mirror leading to Kromede herself appears in the same room. Before the last fight comes a run through a hall of fire walls, which at higher levels adds illusions of her shooting arrows; one hit from a wall can be survived, a second cannot.

1:16 The final boss asks for more than dodging. After about 70% of her health, BoredAF explains, players must stand at spinning mirrors and use the emote matching each mirror's image, with a number above each mirror showing how many players must do it at once. Games On adds that the party has about 20 seconds to clear every mirror before it wipes.

Does Kromede drop Heroic gear on the global version? No. NC said global season 1 has no Heroic gear, so the Fire Temple drops only its regular weapons.

Is Kromede new to Aion 2? No. She is a boss of the original Aion's Fire Temple, reimagined for the sequel.
