Snowfield of Sorrow

Snowfield of Sorrow, the Sanctuary raid Aion 2 added in Korea and Taiwan on Sep 9, 2026: Easy, Normal and Hard difficulties, the server-wide Hall of Fame and first-clear race, final boss Deltras, and the Seal equipment it unlocks.

Snowfield of Sorrow is a Sanctuary raid in Aion 2, added to the Korean and Taiwanese service in the maintenance of Sep 9, 2026 and the newest raid there at the time of writing. It comes in three difficulties, Easy, Normal and Hard, and Blazeon describes it as a vast, bleak, frozen war zone rather than a conventional ice dungeon. Its final boss is Deltras, and the first three Hard kills on each server are written into a new Sanctuary Hall of Fame. NC first named Snowfield of Sorrow in June 2026 among the dungeons planned for Chapter 1 (NC). It belongs to the Korean and Taiwanese service only: the global version, launched on Oct 5, 2026, starts with an earlier Sanctuary.

Release

NC's release of Jun 17, 2026 listed the Sanctuary dungeon Snowfield of Sorrow among the Chapter 1 content revealed at SUMMER FESTA, but it did not arrive with the Chapter 1 update of Jul 1. It came instead in the Korean and Taiwanese maintenance of Sep 9, 2026, which Blazeon covers for English-speaking players and expects to reach the global version at some point. Aion2 Hub's fan translation of the notes calls it the largest content patch since Chapter 1: besides the Sanctuary and its Hall of Fame, it added the Seal equipment slot, [True] Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord crafts, an Abyss set bonus rebuilt around gear tier, a shorter Spacetime Rift Domination, Streamer Mode, World Markers and a system for commending party members after a clear (Aion2 Hub; Updates and Seasons).

Three difficulties and a new design direction

Earlier Sanctuaries had one or two difficulties, and Anders calls the Easy, Normal and Hard split a departure from the way raids normally worked. He reports the developers saying they are moving away from mechanics that need all ten players perfectly synchronized, where one mistake wipes the raid, towards difficulty that comes from reading the boss and reacting to it, with less reliance on one-shot mechanics. He does not expect the global launch raid to change to this format, but reads it as a sign of where Sanctuary design is heading.

Setting and story

The raid's story centers on Deltras, commander of the Storm Legion, a figure from the lore of the original Aion (Story and Lore). Blazeon's summary of the patch says Deltras was captured and executed by Zikel and that fragments of his heart were scattered across the snow; NC's English releases do not tell the story, so this is his reading. In his account the raid takes place not only in a physical snowfield but inside Deltras's frozen world, where his memories, grief and the circumstances of his death have become the environment. Blazeon points to the contrast between the pristine white landscape and the darker military structures and battlefield remains that break it up.

Hall of Fame and the first-clear race

The Sanctuary Hall of Fame is a server-wide record of the first, second and third kills of a Sanctuary's last boss, and it applies to Snowfield of Sorrow on Hard only. Each entry is written at the moment of the kill and keeps the character name, server, Legion, class, the highest combat power and item level reached during the run, the force's order, the date and the time taken to clear. Characters who contributed nothing are left out, and an entry does not change if a character or Legion is renamed later. The record sits on a Hall of Fame tab at the top left of the Sanctuary entry screen.

According to the fan translation of the notes, a first-clear event, "Be the First to Lift the Chalice", ran until the twentieth force had cleared the raid. The first force won a title and the Golden Void pet, forces two to five the Silver Void pet, and forces six to twenty the Bronze Void pet (Aion2 Hub).

The race was run on the Taiwanese service as well. XifanGG uploaded a full Hard-mode clear from an Assassin's point of view on release day, and its Chinese title describes it as the third first clear on the Taiwanese server.

Final boss: Deltras

Madsin's Cleric view of Deltras on Hard, uploaded two days after release, shows a raid still learning the fight. As his group discusses a pull, the point made is that success takes either the gear or the confidence: even a force that survives the wave mechanic sees the boss enrage about ten seconds later.

No written English guide to the fight was available at the time of writing, so the mechanics are best followed through the raid leader's calls. Early in the fight he calls for the bait, then for everyone to gather up, stack together and jump, and then warns of a donut attack.

Later calls set out two fixed rules: the tank buster is always taken on the outside of the group, and the force regroups in the middle after the lines.

Towards the end the calls turn to flowers and water. Players are told to touch the flowers as much as possible, and waves and a tsunami arrive from one side or the other, with the call each time to pull to the opposite side.

Rewards and Seal equipment

The patch added a new equipment slot, the Seal. Seals are made by converting equipment vouchers earned in Snowfield of Sorrow together with Kina, and the same patch introduced the Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord sets as a new crafted gear tier (Gear Progression).

In Anders' overview of global PvE, bracelets, brooches and seals are the equipment slots that come from raids. In Korea brooches arrived with the third raid, Muspel's Chalice, and seals with Snowfield of Sorrow, and neither raid is part of the global version's first season, so both slots are future upgrades for global players.
