Arcana

0:00 Arcana are collectable cards in Aion 2 that a character equips for stats, combat power and extra skill levels. They drop from Transcendence Dungeons, and BoredAF's guide of December 2025 opens by saying those dungeons "are required in order to earn different Arcanas", which "should not be ignored as they provide bonus levels to your abilities and additional gear score". Cards belong to sets whose two- and four-piece effects shape a build, and higher grades can be crafted from crystals. On its Steam page NC discloses that the card designs use AI-generated assets.

Where Arcana come from

0:28 Cards drop as loot in the Transcendence dungeons, and higher-quality cards come from higher stages. RedCloud's Arcana guide of December 2025, from the Korean launch season, shows which card types each dungeon gives: Compasses and Bells from Deus Research Base and Parchments and Mirrors from Shattered Arkanis, with a low chance of a Grail from either, though only at a lower grade.

NC's update of May 13, 2026 tied three new sets to a new Transcendence dungeon, Mirror of Scarlet Desire: the cards are crafted from Noble Crystal (Bound), obtained by clearing it.

Combat power, stats and skill levels

1:17 Every equipped card gives stats and passive effects, and also combat power by grade: 20 for a common card, 40 for rare, 60 for blue and 80 for unique. RedCloud's advice is to equip the highest grades available, with exceptions for set effects.

2:38 The skill levels matter most. Without running Transcendence, he explains, most skills stay capped "around like 14 or 15" depending on gear and passives, while cards push them higher, to 16 and in some cases 20, where skills change how they play. Cards can also be enhanced to their maximum level for more stats.

17:12 Sen's Gladiator guide of July 2026, recorded on the Taiwanese servers during Chapter 1, warns that the system is "totally different than it was" at launch, but the basis is the same: cards give the extra skill levels "which you need in order to get your abilities to level 20 plus", so Gladiators hunt for Rending Blow, Ruinous Blow and Overhead Slam on their cards.

19:35 Ashura Whole Heavens shows the effect on a Templar in September 2026: "why I have so many skill points. It's coming from my arcane cards", with Judgment, Punishment and Pummel, his main damage skills, rolled on several cards.

Set effects

1:43 Each card belongs to a set with a two-piece and a four-piece bonus. RedCloud's Cleric wears Primal Vigor, whose four-piece bonus gives 150 PvE attack while HP is above 78%, alongside Magic Armor, which restores MP and adds PvE defense while MP is above 50%. Sets can be mixed, a four-piece of one and a two-piece of another, and a character can keep several card setups for different content.

NC's update of May 13, 2026 added three sets in Korea and Taiwan: Punishing Overture, whose set effect raises Boss Damage Tolerance by 5%; Protected Soul, raising Restoration by 5%; and Indomitable Dedication, raising Weapon Damage Tolerance by 5%.

18:10 Sen recommends a four-piece and a two-piece at the start, and at the Taiwanese endgame names Protected Soul as the best set, for its 5% Restoration and a damage-blocking effect, adding that later characters can run two four-piece sets.

Crafting cards

3:33 Luck with drops is not the only route. RedCloud shows how Mysterious Crystals craft a unique card and suggests making the Grail first, since high-grade Grails drop only from the highest stages. He gets the crystals from a season achievement for a score of 6,000 in the Ascension Trial, or from the season shop; see Nightmare and Ascension Trial.

5:36 Crafting happens in the Transmute section. A player picks the set, which decides the main effect, then may fix one or more of the skills the card will roll. RedCloud fixes only Debilitating Mark and leaves the rest random, because choosing everything "costs 15 of those crystals and 15 million kinah". The window shows the percentage chance of each result before crafting.

Sen describes the same trade-off in July 2026: every Transcendence run gives random cards, "so there is heavy RNG", and crafting is the way to get specific stats, with the price rising as more skills are fixed. The fan site aion2hub, which translates the Korean patch notes, reports that Arcana acquisition and crafting were reworked in the update of Jun 4, 2026.

Extraction

7:11 Unwanted cards can be extracted into crystals. In December 2025 RedCloud advised against it, since higher Transcendence stages would bring better cards of the same grade anyway.

NC widened extraction on May 13, 2026: Season 1 and Season 2 Arcana extract into Mysterious Crystal (Bound), and Season 3 Arcana into Noble Crystal (Bound), the crystal that crafts the three new sets.

Slots and later additions

NC's Season 2 roadmap of Jan 7, 2026 listed "the addition of new Arcana slots" among its planned improvements. aion2hub's translated patch list gives more detail, which NC's English releases do not confirm: a new Scale Arcana slot with Season 2 on Jan 21, 2026, new sets and the Scale part on Feb 25, new Arcana slots again with Chapter 1 on Jul 1, and Dice and Lantern Arcana with the Transcendence dungeon Noiran's Hidden Legacy on Aug 12, 2026. Arcana in the global version

The dungeons that drop Arcana are open on the global servers from the first day. NC's launch Transcendence leaderboard, which ranks players per server and per class, counts clears of Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis, the two dungeons whose Compasses, Bells, Parchments and Mirrors RedCloud's guide shows at the Korean launch; it began on the Advanced Access servers on Sep 30, 2026 and runs on every server from Oct 5 to Nov 2 (see Transcendence Dungeons and Advanced Access).

17:15 Global players are expected to start with fewer card types than Korea has now. xMontu's Gladiator guide of August 2026 covers only the pieces he believes will launch with the global version, the Grail, Parchment, Compass, Bell, Mirror and Scales, and says the global version "wouldn't have pieces like the key and the hourglass". He leaves set bonuses out because they change as dungeons are released.

13:21 CrusherXGaming reports that the global launch "simplifies transcendence dungeons to four levels, giving you rare arcana right at level one instead of common". NC's global notices through Sep 30, 2026, when the global client went live, do not describe the Arcana system or the dungeons' stages, so these remain a creator's report.

AI-generated card art

The AI Generated Content Disclosure on Aion 2's Steam page reads: "Some in-game assets were created with the assistance of AI tools. Arcana card designs and some icons use AI-generated assets." MassivelyOP drew attention to the disclosure in its gamescom report of Aug 25, 2026, and it was still on the page when the global client went live on Sep 30, 2026.
