Elysea

Elysea, the southern half of Atreia in Aion 2 and homeland of the Elyos: the Balaur-held starting island of Poeta, the main region Verteron with its legion bases, canyons and swamps, and Eltnen, added in Korea and Taiwan on Jul 1, 2026.

Elysea is the southern half of Atreia in Aion 2 and the homeland of the Elyos. Elyos characters begin in Poeta and move on to Verteron, the main region at the Korean and Taiwanese launch of Nov 19, 2025, and Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow added Eltnen on Jul 1, 2026 (Fextralife; NC). In the story, Poeta has long been overrun by the Balaur, and the Elyos campaign opens with Daevas of the Legion of Dawn flying there by airship to rescue Pernos, whom they see as their last hope of crossing the Bulwark. The northern half of the world is Asmodae.

Elysea in the lore

In the history of the original game, as Azphel retells it, the Seraphim Lords who went south after the Cataclysm named their people the Elyos of Elysea. Their half of the world was sunlit and, despite the ruins the Cataclysm left, its people rebuilt. When beasts kept attacking the work on the old capital, the lords lifted part of it into the sky, and it became Sanctum, the new capital of Elysea.

In the 200 years before Aion 2 that picture fell apart. Azphel's summary of the launch story says the forces of the new Dragon Lord Ishta took Poeta and Verteron and used captured Daevas in experiments, and that even after Ishta withdrew, her forces went on spreading chaos across Verteron.

Fearing that all of Atreia would fall, Ariel, with Kaisinel and Yustiel beside her, raised a great Bulwark at the edge of the Eltnen desert to halt the Balaur, and the exhausted Empyrean Lords vanished. Sanctum was moved high above Heiron, safe inside the Bulwark, where Aether is still abundant. The Legion of Dawn and the player begin the story outside it.

Poeta

Poeta is the Elyos starting zone (Fextralife). In the story it is now called the island of death. It was once where Daevas came to complete their ascension, at a lake that was a favored place for the ritual; the Balaur have turned its water red, and only one Elim still guards the area. The player, stripped of Daeva powers by the Balaur, ascends again there. NC's sponsored feature in PC Gamer singles out "the beautiful lakes of Poeta" among the sights of the new Atreia (PC Gamer, sponsored content created with NC).

The Legion of Dawn plans to leave Poeta for Verteron, where its main base is. While its airship is being refuelled, a Dredgion attack destroys the temporary base, and only a few members, the unconscious Pernos and the player escape to Verteron.

Verteron

Verteron is the main Elyos region of the launch content (Fextralife). Fextralife's region list, written from material released before launch, describes several of its places:

Place Pre-launch description (Fextralife)
Legion of Dawn Base A secret base and command center built in Cantas Valley, shielded by natural rock formations
Cantas Valley Once rich in Odium and an important Daeva base, largely abandoned when the resources ran out, now held by the Legion of Dawn
Dredgion Crash Site Where the Dredgion of the Papnir Legion crash-landed, wrecking the region and tainting the soil
Elun River Swamp Downstream on the Elun River, around the remains of the Verteron tower, which Templars are rebuilding
Artamia Canyon A valley in eastern Verteron submerged after the Battle of Meslamtaeda and raised again by tectonic shifts, home to the Temple of Jumion and a Notos Legion stronghold
Sanctuary Watchtower Once the sanctuary of Zikel, Lord of Destruction, now Balaur barracks and a prison for humans captured by Draconute soldiers

NC's About the Game page for the global launch shows five places of the Elyos world with a picture of each, under its own English names: Dawn Legion Base, a hidden base in Verteron's Cantas Valley; Cantas Valley, an abandoned Odylium hub left barren; Ellun River Marsh, where the Illusion Cavaliers are rebuilding Verteron's fallen Barrier Tower; Aullaeu Village, at the edge of Tolbas Forest; and Altamia Canyon, a once-submerged canyon in eastern Verteron that held the Zumion Temple and is now watched by the Notos Legion (NC).

A shadowy ravine between sheer cliffs holds a hidden settlement: ivy-covered stone buildings with arched windows climb the rock walls, a tall statue of a robed woman stands over a plaza with braziers and small tents, and a slender lit tower rises on the right.

A wide, empty plain covered in patches of white and rust-red growth stretches toward distant rock spires under a pink, hazy sky with a bright sun; on the right, rocky cliffs carry strange trees with flat, layered caps.

Under a pink and violet sky with a faint arc of light, rocky cliffs rise behind a settlement of small huts among palm-like trees, golden shrubs and purple undergrowth, beside a tall twisted tree trunk shaped like a giant woven spire on the right.

The story visits several of these. The Legion of Dawn seeks help from the Illusion Cavaliers, followers of Kaisinel who have long since disbanded, and finds rifts to the spirit world opening across the Elun River marsh, with spirits going berserk around them.

Dark, muddy marshland with scrubby trees and fallen trunks leads to a calm gray sea, where a single tall, dark tower with a glowing ring rises between rocky headlands under a heavy brown and teal sky, with birds circling it.

The Notos Legion later traces the missing High Priestess Reda to Artamia Canyon, where old tablets tell of the Dragon Lord Meslamtaeda and a temple of the first Daeva that sank together with Meslamtaeda's poison and has now risen again through seismic shifts. Fextralife spells the temple's patron Jumion; Azphel's chapter titles use Zumion.

Eltnen

Eltnen joined Elysea with Chapter 1 on Jul 1, 2026 in Korea and Taiwan. NC's notes list Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and Monoliths in the new regions, 20 new Sealed Dungeons and six new Strongholds across Eltnen and the Asmodian Morheim, and a level cap raised to 50 (NC, Jun 17, 2026; NC, Jul 6, 2026). See Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds.

The region was set up by the end of the launch story. Azphel's summary ends with the Legion of Dawn holding Kaisinel's core and naming its next goal: Eltnen, and the core of Yustiel, the Lady of Life.

Madsin, three days after Chapter 1 went live, pointed out that only about half of Eltnen and Morheim had opened, and that NC had not said the maps would be released in parts.

He preferred Eltnen to Morheim for keeping to its desert theme, but found it more a big barren canyon than a desert. Remembering the original Eltnen's wide desert and jungle, he thought the new version looked good but felt flat and lacked variety.

The Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds of Chapter 1 work much as those in Altgard and Verteron did, in his account: some have more layers, but the objectives are largely the same, and there are fewer of them than in the launch regions.

NC's global team has said the global version, open to Founder's Pack owners since Sep 30, 2026 and to everyone from Oct 5, starts close to a year behind Korea in content and will roll out the backlog over time (Hardcore Gamer).

Visiting Elysea from Asmodae

Each faction plays on its own map, but Society Of Gaming explains that from level 45 players cross to the other faction's map through rifts to finish the Sealed Dungeons there as well. NC's team said on its global PvP stream that rifts open about every three hours and allow about an hour on the other side ( NC stream, Sep 11, 2026).
