Character Creation

13:36 The character creator of Aion 2 is where a player builds a Daeva's appearance, and NC counts more than 200 adjustable features in it, covering face, hair, makeup, styling and body type. On NC's global preview stream of Aug 7, 2026 a presenter describes the aim as making customization grow with the game, with "over 200 different customization options ranging from different hairstyles", two-tone hair and "so many different sliders" for the face. NC says the results are "fully reflected in the game world". Global players have been making their characters since Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026, and everyone else since the free launch of Oct 5; NC's Community Character Creation contest for them closed on Oct 19, with winners due on Nov 2, and finished looks can be shared and downloaded through NC's Style Shop. Outfits worn over a finished character are covered on Cash Shop and Cosmetics.

Presets, voices and lighting

1:48 Creation starts with a choice of male or female, and there is no gender lock on any class, so every class can be played as either. Society Of Gaming, touring the creator in August 2026 after more than 1,000 hours on the Korean and Taiwanese servers, then picks from a row of presets for each, stressing that "these are only presets": colors and shapes can all be changed afterwards.

4:00 Before sculpting, the creator offers default voices, an outfit preview and a choice of lighting type, such as natural light, together with the color of the light and a slider for its angle, so a face can be judged under different conditions.

18:56 The preset list has grown. Fan translations of the Korean patch notes record new customization presets, one male and one female, on Dec 9, 2025, and on NC's dungeon stream of Sep 4, 2026 a presenter explains that the character on screen uses "another one of the presets that was added for the global launch".

Pre-creation and character slots

0:00 In Korea and Taiwan players could reserve server and character names from Oct 16, 2025 and pre-create characters from Nov 16, 2025, three days before the Korea and Taiwan Launch. Sen's video from that day opens as he gets in: "Finally, dude. The character creation is up", before working through the presets one by one.

20:29 For the Global Release, NC said on its preview stream that each player starts with four character slots and can expand to eight. In Korea and Taiwan NC gave every player one free extra slot when the Brawler arrived on Jul 1, 2026.

Global players first made their launch characters when Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026, an hour later than planned. mein-mmo's live ticker reported that character creation was at first locked on every server once the countdown ended, and that server errors threw some players back to the main menu, forcing them to replay the short tutorial that comes before the creator. Later that day NC asked new players to choose its "recommended" servers (see Servers).

Slots are counted per server, which matters once characters can move. NC's server transfer notice of Oct 9, 2026 says that slots a player has bought and filled stay on the old server, that a transfer uses the slots free on the destination, and that each missing slot can be added during the transfer for 1,000 Quna: moving six characters to a server with four free slots costs 2,000 Quna. Every transferred character arrives named "@TemporaryName" and picks a name at its first login, and the old name is lost if someone on the new server already has it. The character's customization and its registered styles move with it.

Face

The face section begins with face-shape presets and then single sliders. Society Of Gaming's tour runs through face type, chin type, side and lower jawline, cheeks, forehead, brow bone and the height of the cheekbones, and adds a skin gloss control that changes how much a face shines.

9:13 Ears have their own options. Besides standard ears there are pointed ears for "a little bit more Elvish type of the character", with size, position, rotation and earlobe length.

10:44 The eyes carry the most sliders: size, position, depth and rotation, then inner and outer eye-corner width and height and the positions of the upper and lower eyelids. Eyebrows follow with shape, color, intensity, position, gloss and angle, and eyelashes with color, angle and upper and lower intensity. The eyeballs can be set symmetrical or asymmetrical, with iris size, center and border colors, pupil shape and an optional eye shine. Nose, lips and lip corners finish the face.

Hair, makeup, tattoos and scars

23:03 After choosing from a long list of haircuts, a player can dye hair in one color or two tones, set where the second tone falls and how strongly the two contrast, and add hair gloss. Sen, on pre-creation day, found so many cuts that "there's going to be a lot of unique characters for sure".

Makeup sits under Style. For eyes and lips it offers color, intensity, gloss and reflection, and then glitter, with its own distribution, color, particle size, opacity and reflection, plus detail shapes. Moles and freckles have shape, color and intensity.

30:44 Tattoos can be placed on the face, the front or back of the body, either arm or either leg, and positioned within that area. War paint comes with base and accent colors, texture intensity, metallic and glow settings, and scars can be chosen by type and then moved, resized, rotated and given depth. Facial hair, beards and moustaches included, has its own color controls.

Body

15:11 Body shape starts from general presets, from small to "big Viking vibe", then refines height, body thickness and vein intensity, and each part of the arms, down to hand size, finger length and thickness and muscle definition. The torso has shoulder, trapezius, rib cage, chest, back and waist sliders, and the lower body covers hips, legs, calves, feet and leg muscle definition. Society Of Gaming's tour adds head size, neck thickness and length, and abdominal definition.

In the world

9:47 What the creator shows is what the game shows. TheLazyPeon, reacting to NC's first showcase of the creator in August 2025, notes that Aion 2's characters "actually look the same in game as they do on the character creator", which NC's own recap of that livestream also stresses.

38:49 Once in the game, appearance continues through the wardrobe's transmog system, which Society Of Gaming calls the best he has seen: hundreds of outfits whose colors, patterns and materials can be changed and mixed. On the preview stream NC adds that every equipment slot can take a different look, wings included; see Flight and Wings.

Hardcore Gamer's Summer Game Fest preview of June 2026 reported that "there will be a way to share created characters with others". In the same week NC's Chief Business Officer Seung-Uk Baek told Hardcore Gamer that some players simply enjoy customizing their characters, sharing what they make and going around taking photos.

On the global version that sharing is the Style Shop. NC's website lists the styles players have registered, region by region, with each style's title, its creator's character and server, a download count, and Like, Download and Bookmark buttons, sorted by most downloaded or most engaged; on Oct 12, 2026 the most downloaded style of the past seven days in NA West had 902 downloads. NC's server transfer Q&A of Oct 9, 2026 adds that the looks saved in My Appearances and in a player's Download Library move with a transferred character, and that a registered style stays available for download afterwards under the character and server name it was created with.

NC also described a way to earn from those looks. GamesBeat reported from Summer Game Fest Play Days in June 2026 that creators would be able to sell their looks through an in-game marketplace, and that NC's Chief Business Officer Seung-Uk Baek said NC takes no fee or cut of those sales. NC's Style Shop listing, as read on Oct 12, 2026, shows Like, Download and Bookmark buttons; the sources read for this page do not say what a creator earns or what a buyer pays on the global version.

The Asmodian look

1:16 Not every veteran is pleased. Ynoki describes "the major controversy" among players of the original Aion: the Asmodians used to be visibly adapted to their dark hemisphere, with sharp claws, a black mane, piercing red eyes and a feral build, and in Aion 2 those traits have been "largely toned down or removed", bringing them closer to the Elyos and to conventional Korean MMO looks. Sliders can put some grit back, but not by default. Fextralife's faction page still lists the traditional Asmodian traits of darker, rugged features, glowing red or blue eyes and slightly feral claws.

The Launch Scale Test

31:15 The creator was open in the Launch Scale Test of Sep 17 and 18, 2026, with one point of confusion. NC said on X on Sep 16 that wardrobe and character customization would be available, while MassivelyOP's announcement of the test, and later CrusherXGaming's summary of its rules, said outfit customization was disabled. On NC's stream of Sep 18, broadcaster Stella showed the creator reopened in the middle of the game: NC had mailed testers an item that, right-clicked in the inventory, brings back the creator with a "manage appearance" option for saving presets. MassivelyOP's own reviewer, Tyler F.M. Edwards, found a transmog system available from the start of the test, although its menu took some digging to find. A hotfix NC released between the two test days stopped characters below level 10 from using appearance change tickets.

2:26 Anders, writing up the first test day, found a few new presets in the creator, the rest being the old Korean ones, and counted five character change vouchers gifted by NC, which gave each tester six chances to get a character right.

1:53:54 Nothing made in the test carried over. Stella told viewers they could save their looks but would have to create their characters again on the global build, advised screenshotting every slider, as she had, and did not know whether a code for sharing presets would be possible before release.

4:15 Reviewers of the test praised the creator. CrusherXGaming called character creation "one of the real highlights" of the test, and Edwards wrote that Aion 2 carries on the original's legacy of "insanely deep customization": most players ran around as polished K-pop idols, but with effort almost any kind of character is possible. Kevin Link of S4G called the creator incredibly detailed, and mein-mmo's Sophia Weiss noted that the body menu adjusts even individual muscles. She also saw heavy clipping on the more elaborate hairstyles, which mostly did not look odd but was unsightly when curls clipped into the faces of NPCs.

7:07 Trunx, new to Aion, counted over 200 customizable sections and called the presets amazing, one of them looking just like Jason Momoa.

Vouchers and launch events

1:36:25 Looks can be changed after creation with an Appearance Change Voucher. On Sep 30, 2026 NC apologized for the long queues of Advanced Access and gave every player one as compensation, and the Twitch Drops of Sep 30 to Oct 4 included a Customization Voucher for 30 minutes of watching. On launch day, Oct 5, NC sent every player a Customization Voucher (Bound) as well, writing that many players were eager to adjust their characters, and pointing them to ESC, then Closet. Using one needs no special place: in the test Stella collected the voucher from her mail, opened the inventory with I and right-clicked it, and the creator opened at once.

Guides written since the global launch add the rules, though NC's own notices read for this page do not set them out, and the guides do not fully agree. The voucher needs level 10 and comes in permanent and time-limited kinds: AllThingsHow lists the permanent one at 36,000 Oath Coin in the Season Shop and a 7-day bound one from the Daeva's Styling Chest, and it says a look downloaded from the Style Shop stays fixed, so the voucher cannot edit it. GamesFuze prices one at 26,000 Mileage, limit 2 per character, Mileage being earned by real-money purchases. Playnews says a 7-day ticket gives 168 hours of unlimited changes and that physical changes can otherwise be paid for in Kina; the other two guides name only vouchers. Vouchers can expire, so check the date on any you hold.

NC's Community Character Creation contest ran from Sep 30 to Oct 19, 2026 in North America, Latin America and Europe. Entrants posted two forward-facing screenshots taken in the Closet menu, a headshot and a full-body shot, with their region, server and character name in the event channel of NC's Discord. There are four categories, Ugly, Cute, Attractive and Unique, each with a prize of 6,000 Quna, and every entrant receives two Dye Tokens; winners are due to be announced on Nov 2. The Beauty of Atreia screenshot event from Oct 5 to Nov 9 gave the week of Oct 12 to 18 to characters. In Japan, NC ran its own customization contest on X from Sep 30 to Oct 31 (Japan time), in which 16 winners each receive three 30-day Appearance Change Tickets and seven Design Use Tickets.

Frequently asked questions

How many customization options does Aion 2 have? Aion 2's character creator has more than 200 adjustable features, according to NC, across face, hair, makeup and styling, and body.

Is any class locked to a gender? No. Every Aion 2 class can be played as male or female.

How many characters can you make on the global version? Aion 2's global version gives four character slots at launch, which can be expanded to eight, NC said on its Aug 7, 2026 stream. Slots are counted per server.

When could Korean and Taiwanese players create characters? From Nov 16, 2025, three days before Aion 2 launched there on Nov 19.

Can you share a character design? Yes, through Aion 2's Style Shop: a player registers a style, and others can like, bookmark and download it, in the game and from NC's website, which listed styles with hundreds of downloads each by Oct 12, 2026. Hardcore Gamer's June 2026 preview had reported that there would be a way to share created characters; during the Launch Scale Test, NC's broadcaster Stella did not yet know whether preset codes would be possible.

Can I change my character's appearance after creating it? Yes. In Aion 2 an Appearance Change Voucher reopens the creator when right-clicked in the inventory. NC gave every player one on Sep 30, 2026 to make up for the Advanced Access queues, sent every player a Customization Voucher (Bound) on Oct 5, 2026, and included a Customization Voucher in the Advanced Access Twitch Drops.

What level do you need to change your appearance in Aion 2? Level 10. Characters below it cannot use an Aion 2 Appearance Change Voucher, as AllThingsHow says and as NC's Sep 18, 2026 test hotfix set for appearance change tickets.

Can a voucher edit a look downloaded from the Style Shop? No, says AllThingsHow: in Aion 2, a design downloaded from the Style Shop stays fixed once applied, and the voucher cannot modify it.

Can you sell character designs in Aion 2? NC said so: GamesBeat reported in June 2026 that Aion 2 creators could sell looks through an in-game marketplace with no cut for NC, but the sources read here do not give prices or earnings on the global version.

Did Launch Scale Test characters carry over to the global launch? No. Nothing from Aion 2's September 2026 test carried over, so players had to recreate their characters.

What is the character creation contest? NC's Community Character Creation event for Aion 2, Sep 30 to Oct 19, 2026: players posted a headshot and a full-body screenshot from the Closet menu on NC's Discord, and the winners of four categories (Ugly, Cute, Attractive and Unique), due to be announced on Nov 2, receive 6,000 Quna each.

Do Asmodians still look different from Elyos? Less in Aion 2 than in the original. Creators note that the claws, red eyes and feral build of the original Asmodians are toned down by default, although sliders can bring some of that back.

Where can I download other players' character presets in Aion 2? In the Style Shop. NC's website lists registered styles by region, sorted by most downloaded or most engaged over the past seven days, each with Like, Download and Bookmark buttons; NC's transfer Q&A of Oct 9, 2026 names a Download Library beside My Appearances in the game.

Can I keep my character name when I transfer servers in Aion 2? Only if nobody on the new server has it. NC's notice of Oct 9, 2026 says every transferred character is renamed "@TemporaryName" and chooses a name at its first login; transfers open on Oct 14, 2026.

Does my appearance carry over in a server transfer? Yes. NC's Q&A of Oct 9, 2026 lists customization, the looks saved in My Appearances, the Download Library and registered styles among the things that move with a transferred Aion 2 character.

Do extra character slots move with me to another server? No. Slots bought and used on one Aion 2 server stay there; during a transfer each additional slot needed on the destination costs 1,000 Quna (NC, Oct 9, 2026).
