System Requirements

The PC specifications for Aion 2's global Steam release: Windows 10 or 11, a GTX 1050 Ti at minimum and an RTX 2070 recommended, DirectX 12, 100 GB of storage for an 80.2 GB download, DLSS 4.5, NC's warning about Frame Generation crashes on some RTX 50-series laptops, and the Korean specifications for comparison.

The system requirements for Aion 2's global version, as published on its Steam page, call for a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC with at least an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500, 8 GB of memory, an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, DirectX 12 and 100 GB of storage, and recommend a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700, 16 GB and an RTX 2070, with an SSD recommended for both. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5. NVIDIA showed it running with DLSS 4.5 at gamescom in August 2026, and NC promised DLSS 4.5 for launch. The client has been playable since Founder's Pack Advanced Access opened on Sep 30, 2026, ahead of the free launch on Oct 5; its pre-download was 80.2 GB, and NC warned that DLSS Frame Generation can crash the game on some RTX 50-series laptops. The Korean and Taiwanese version, which also runs on phones, published different PC figures in 2025. Which stores and devices carry the game is covered on Platforms.

Global PC requirements (Steam)

These are the figures on the Steam store page, recorded exactly as the store listed them on Sep 30, 2026 (Steam). Both tiers begin: "Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system". NC's own help center gives the same requirements (NC Help, FAQ 7083).

Component Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10/11 (64-bit) Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5-10500 AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-11700

Graphics NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) NVIDIA RTX 2070 (8GB)
DirectX Version 12 Version 12
Network Broadband Internet connection Broadband Internet connection
Storage 100 GB available space 100 GB available space
Additional Notes "SSD Recommended. When using FHD resolution in-game, set the graphics preset to Very Low to ensure compatibility." "SSD Recommended. When using FHD resolution in-game, set the graphics preset to Low to ensure compatibility."

The notes matter: NC ties both tiers to low graphics presets at full HD "to ensure compatibility", so the listed cards are matched to the lowest presets rather than to high settings. The listing names only NVIDIA cards. Older tables on fan wikis quoting a GTX 1060 and 50 GB of storage date from before launch and are out of date (Fextralife). The same requirements applied to the open Launch Scale Test on Sep 17 and 18, 2026.

Download and installation

EUTOPIA pointed out on Sep 29 that the pre-download was already open to everyone, with or without a Founder's Pack, at around 81 GB, and that files from the Launch Scale Test's Playtest app would not carry over.

The storage figure is a ceiling rather than the download. mein-mmo's live ticker put the pre-download that opened on Sep 28, 2026 at 80.2 GB, against the 100 GB listed on Steam (mein-mmo). The pre-downloaded files were encrypted, and on Sep 30 the client had to decrypt them before play: NC warned that this is not a reinstallation, and that it takes longer or shorter depending on the PC (NC on Steam). Notebookcheck's launch explainer repeated the Steam requirements and NC's advice to install on an SSD (Notebookcheck). Players who took part in the Launch Scale Test through Steam had to uninstall the separate Playtest app and download Aion 2 separately (Platforms).

Korean requirements (November 2025)

NCSOFT published PC and mobile specifications for the Korean and Taiwanese launch on Nov 12, 2025, stressing that Unreal Engine 5 let the game support high-end graphics while running on hardware from about the previous four to five years (Gamevu). They differ from the global Steam listing.

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10 or later, 64-bit Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
Processor AMD Ryzen 3 3300X / Intel i5-10400F AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / Intel Core i5-12400F
Memory 16 GB 32 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GTX 1660 NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti

The Korean table asks for more memory and newer graphics cards than the global one, which lists older cards with low presets; NC has not explained the difference. Phone and tablet requirements are on Platforms.

aLuckyRO, a custom PC builder, went through the Korean minimum a month before launch. He noted that both minimum processors were about five years old and among the weakest of their generation, and advised that 16 GB was too little in practice for players who also run Discord and a browser: 32 GB was, in his view, the cheapest worthwhile upgrade.

He agreed with the recommended processors but doubted that an RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT would hold medium to high settings, and suggested an RTX 4060 Ti or 5060 Ti class card for maximum settings at 1080p.

How it runs: player reports

Reports from the Korean and Taiwanese version, which uses the same engine, suggest modest demands for the client and heavier ones in crowds.

Korea and Taiwan

Grobs, on what he called an "insane" PC, ran everything at maximum without lag and without having to change a setting, and found the performance one of the game's surprises.

kets and his games could not run it on high or maximum settings, but on a mid-range PC with an RTX 2060 it ran "really smoothly" at medium and low, and medium still looked good. His problems were with the servers, not the client (Korea and Taiwan Launch).

Divium Furor, after about 500 hours, found that the game looks good and runs well on a five-year-old computer with a six-core processor and an RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti at high settings in full HD. The compromise, he said, is a short rendering distance.

Large battles are the heaviest load. EPIC PLK advises turning on the mass combat quality setting and identical player appearance before joining big fights; the game then looks simpler in those fights but, in his experience, runs about twice as smoothly (PvP).

The global client

The global client was first tried widely in the Launch Scale Test. Society Of Gaming measured his own sessions on the European servers: ping between 40 and 80 ms, usually 130 to 140 FPS on an RTX 4070 Ti, and 58 to 70 FPS in a very busy area, which he called absolutely incredible performance.

CrusherXGaming ran the test on a mid to entry-level PC and found it surprisingly smooth, with little to no lag even in busy hubs and towns, and the automatically detected graphics settings worked fine; he cautioned that endgame faction battles will push hardware harder.

Sen also found his test surprisingly smooth in combat, the open world and dungeons, though DLSS did not work until he restarted the game, and some cinematics stuttered from about level 30.

Crowds were the weak point. TheLazyPeon estimated his frame rate at under 30 in areas full of players, which he thought only to be expected.

Trunx, playing the test on an RTX 5080 with everything maxed and DLSS on quality, found that it ran really well, with DLSS 4.5 and frame generation available and an NVIDIA driver for the game; during world bosses, with hundreds of players on screen, the frame drops were severe even on medium settings.

Spid went further, reporting optimization and FPS problems, finding it hard to get anywhere above 60 FPS, and noting that other players barely appear while flying until you come close; in his opinion the game was built with mobile in mind.

The press reports were similar. A mein-mmo tester in Munich measured about 10 ms of ping to the European data center and saw no stutter (mein-mmo), and MassivelyOP's reviewer saw only mild stuttering in the main town with several dozen players around, calling the test otherwise technically sound (MassivelyOP). NC fixed client crashes in a hotfix between the test's two days. S4G's tester reported finding no mouse-sensitivity setting and no frame-rate limiter other than V-Sync in the test client (S4G).

Upscaling and ray tracing

NVIDIA's DLSS 4.5 RTX gameplay reveal of Aion 2 premiered at gamescom on Aug 26, 2026. On NC's dungeon stream of Sep 4 its community broadcaster confirmed that DLSS 4.5 would be available in Aion 2 at its launch on Oct 5.

NVIDIA had already promoted the Korean version: an "RTX On" narrative trailer was shown at the Seoul GeForce Gamer Festival in October 2025.

Before early access EUTOPIA reported that NVIDIA had confirmed DLSS 4.5 super resolution and multi-frame generation for the global version and released a Game Ready driver for it, and that AMD had no day-one driver yet but the game supports FSR.

DLSS brought the first known hardware problem of early access. On Sep 30, 2026 NC warned, on its Japanese notice board only, that DLSS Frame Generation can crash the game on some laptops with RTX 50-series graphics, especially with G-SYNC turned on. Its workaround is to turn V-Sync on in the NVIDIA Control Panel or to turn G-SYNC off; the DLSS option is hidden in the game while G-SYNC is enabled, and NC said it was working with NVIDIA on a fix (NC Japan). NC America has also said that DLSS 5 is in the works with NVIDIA, without a date (Wccftech).

Network and latency

The only network requirement Steam lists is a broadband connection, but the game is sensitive to latency.

CrusherXGaming warns that high latency wrecks dodge timing and animation canceling in Aion 2's combat, and no amount of skill makes up for it, so players should choose the global server region nearest to them (Combat System, Global Release, Servers).

Accessibility

Steam lists these accessibility features for Aion 2: adjustable text size, camera comfort options, color alternatives, contrast controls, custom volume controls, stereo and surround sound, and subtitle options. The game also supports Steam Family Sharing.
